Production/Operations Supervisor – Palatine, IL

Kelly Engineering is seeking experienced Production/Operations Supervisors on 1st and 2nd shift for our client in Palatine, IL, who will provide tactical leadership and further develop our people. To be successful you must lead the operational plan of people, equipment, and material. As barriers arise you will steer the team through critical real-time decisions which fulfill the plan’s intent while respecting our shared safety and quality expectations. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes work orders and blueprints to determine information such as material to be used, type of operations and sequence of operations required.
  • Requisitions dies, fixtures and material.
  • Examines defective machinery to determine cause of malfunction and reports need for machine repairs.
  • Sets up and operates machines to make test runs and experimental products.
  • Inspects work in progress and finished products.
  • Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.
  • Collects data relative to production, scrap, rework and efficiency. Maintains appropriate records.
  • Coaches employees in the proper performance of their jobs. Monitors performance and gives appropriate feedback.
  • Implements company policies, enforces safety regulations and conducts disciplinary sessions.
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product and EBIT drivers.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, work crew and foster employee empowerment.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
  • Assist in maintaining time and production records.
  • Conducts communication meeting with department.
  • Investigates employee issues and recommends resolutions.
  • Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
  • Attendance/Punctuality: Is consistently at work and on time; Ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent; Arrives at meetings and appointments on time.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university (Engineering preferred); or 1-2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education & experience.
  • Supervisor is responsible for the direction, coordination and evaluation of the Fabrication department staff. Plans, assigns and directs work and applies companies policies.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Basic computer knowledge.

Job Type: Permanent opportunity

Salary Range: 90-97K Base

Shift Schedule (Palatine, IL location):

  • (1) on 1st shift (8am-5pm, M-F)
  • (2) on 2nd shift (3pm-12am, M-F)
