Kelly Science & Clinical is looking for a Quality Manager. The company is located in the Santa Clarita, CA area and produces natural, organic flavor ingredients for food and beverages.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage 4 direct reports: Quality Specialist, QC Lead, and 2 QC Technicians. (performance reviews, coaching, development, merit recommendations, all hiring activities, and progressive discipline.)
- Verify the accuracy of production batch information at required frequencies to ensure all quality and food safety monitoring activities meet expectations
- Oversees implementation of the Food Safety Plan and supporting Prerequisite Programs (with Food Safety Manager)
- Oversees the complaint process to ensure effective resolution providing feedback to the customer and internal commercial team. Serve as the main contact point for quality and food safety discussions with customers.
- Coordinate, prepare for, and conduct customer audits of quality and food safety
- Work with R&D technical resources to identify and solve problems related to the quality of samples, process improvement, production deviations, etc.
- Ensure all lab procedures related to the testing for quality parameters of all incoming raw materials, intermediates and finished products are correct
- Direct production in resolution of quality related issues and monitors production activities to identify quality-related process improvements.
- Finished product release program ensuring all products meet customer specifications
- Implement Internal Audit Program to analyze processes and lead the continuous improvement program of the current SQF certification
- Investigate and resolve supplier issues with Purchasing Department and directly with the supplier as needed
- Manage non-conformance control, material review, rework disposition, and corrective and preventive measures
- Ensures the efficient and effective disposition of materials as part of the product return process
- Responsible for product quality and food safety subjects in support of the facility training program
- Coordinate product quality and food safety information sent directly to the customers
- Communicate effectively with the Director of Quality to ensure companywide objectives are achieved and the appropriate escalation of risks and opportunities for improvement.
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university in a scientific field
- 3-5 years related supervisory experience
- HACCP
- Internal auditing experience
- SQF
