What’s a typical day as a Social Media Manager? You’ll be:

  • Creating and managing editorial calendars
  • Curating relevant content to reach our priority audiences
  • Creating, curating, and managing all published content (images, video and written)
  • Monitoring, and listening and responding to users in a “social” way while cultivating relationships and preference
  • Conducting online advocacy and open stream for cross-promotion
  • Developing and expanding communities
  • Overseeing design of platform pages
  • Designing, creating, and managing social promotions
  • Working with campaign managers to coordinate paid – earned – owned social presence and strategies
  • Compiling results reports for management
  • Displaying in-depth knowledge and understanding of social media platforms, their respective participants, and how each can be deployed in different scenarios
  • Introducing and promoting leading edge trends and best practices to team to continually improve our presence and engagement
  • Identifying potential negative or crisis situations, reporting to management as necessary, and applying conflict resolution principles to mitigate issues
  • Evaluating success of our social efforts on an ongoing basis and refining the strategy and approach to optimize performance
  • Effectively collaborating with team members across multiple departments including marketing, corporate communications, web, customer experience, customer care, and others as opportunities arise
  • Understanding and identifying what type of content works best on what platform as well as understanding the different nuances of each platform; optimizing content accordingly
  • Exhibiting proven content creation and copy writing skills to support a broad-base of platforms, messages, and topics
  • Capturing and editing videos
  • Working closely with web team to ensure Search Engine Optimization (SEO) alignment and supporting optimization
  • Working closely with internal media leads and external agency partners to understand how paid efforts affect organic presence and promotion
  • Crafting a solid strategy and implementing a proactive process for capturing customer online reviews
  • Monitoring trends in Social Media tools, applications, channels, design, and strategy
  • Monitoring effective benchmarks for measuring the impact of social media; analyzing, reviewing, and reporting on effectiveness and extracted business impact
  • Travelling within our plan service area to attend and presenting information at meetings with staff and customers
  • Consistently demonstrating high standards of integrity by supporting the company's mission and values, adhering to the Corporate Code of Conduct, and leading to the company's values and beliefs
  • Maintaining high regard for member privacy in accordance with the corporate privacy policies and procedures

This job might be an outstanding fit if you have:

  • A BS in Communications, Marketing, New Media, Public Relations or relevant field
  • (In lieu of degree, 6 years of experience in a professional social media or marketing role)
  • 5 years' relevant business experience
  • 3 years in a professional social media role
  • Outstanding consulting, writing, editing (photo/text/video), presentation and communication skills
  • Attention to detail; customer-oriented with solid multi-tasking and organizational ability
  • Deep knowledge of social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Instagram) and a comprehensive understanding of tools to enable curation, presence, listening, tracking and reporting (Hootsuite, Tweet Deck, Salesforce Social Studio, Sprout Social, Radian 6)
  • The ability to analyze problems and identify solutions with minimal direction; flexible, able to meet deadlines, and work well in a fast-paced, high volume team environment
  • A firm grasp of social video trends and how they fit into each major network
  • The ability to jump from creative thinking to analytical thinking; able to demonstrate why ideas are analytically sound
  • Demonstrated, solid technical understanding and the ability to pick up new platforms and tools quickly
  • A positive attitude, professional poise; a self-learner with enthusiasm to help move the team and organization forward
  • The ability to analyze problems and identify solutions with minimal direction when required
  • The ability to manage and meet multiple, often competing, deadlines, working in a fast-paced, high-volume collaborative environment
  • A deep, proactive service orientation; treating lines of business and expert areas as clients, enabling achievement of their strategic and business objectives
