POSITION PURPOSE

Responsible for providing a variety of paying and receiving functions, including processing deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, cashiers’ checks, money orders, and cash advances. Balances each day's transactions and verifies cash totals. Performs specific assigned side-jobs and assists other Tellers with a variety of duties as required. Ensures that members are promptly and professionally served.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & BASIC DUTIES

• Handles member transactions with the highest standard of professionalism and enthusiasm.
• Receives share deposits and loan payments in person or by mail.
• Processes cash advances, cashier's checks, money orders, and similar transactions. 
• Disburses cash or check share withdrwawals in person. 
• Processes transfers.
• Opens and closes computer terminal accounts daily. 
• Processes assigned cash and transactions by balancing at the end of the day.
• Keeps drawer locked and secure when away from station.
• Verifies transactions by monitoring deposit amounts, and examining documentation for endorsement and negotiability. 
• Detects and resolves discrepancies promptly.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Certification:

High School Graduate or equivalent.

Required Knowledge:

General knowledge of Credit Union policies and procedures.

Experience Required:

A minimum of one year experience in a financial setting or in customer service.

Skills/Abilities:

Excellent communication and public relations skills.

Ability to work well under pressure.

Ability to use a personal computer and related software applications including internet browsers, Microsoft Word, and/or Excel.

Solid math skills and bookkeeping abilities.
