POSITION SUMMARY:
Kemper, a publicly-traded, multi-billion dollar insurance and financial services company, seeks a talented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our Corporate P&C Statutory Accounting team at our headquarters in downtown Chicago. This is a critical role for a strong performer who is looking to greatly expand their knowledge of ledgers, consolidation, and financial reporting within a multi-faceted insurance company (P&C, life, health) that has exposure to SEC, GAAP, and statutory accounting. Kemper has a proven track record for developing its people for higher roles within the department as well as other functions and across its operating entities. We seek a detail-oriented professional to assist with a wide range of monthly, quarterly and annual accounting functions associated with Kemper’s financial reporting
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare and coordinate regulatory filings in accordance with Statutory Accounting rules
- Submit invoices related to statutory accounting to accounts payable
- Creating and performing ad hoc queries and analytics upon request
- Works with other departments and collaborates to produce required regulatory filing documentation
- Interacting with management, vendors and regulatory authorities
- Oversee and manage P&C shared email inbox to facilitate timely and accurate responses to regulatory authorities
- Coordinate and collaborate with service provider in delivery of electronic filings
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 1-2 years of experience with Statutory filing/regulatory reporting
- Notary public or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
