Kemper is seeking a Sr. Claims Casualty Manager to work in our Liberty Park, AL office. You will manage a combination of skilled and highly motivated claims personnel including some litigation handlers.
Position Responsibilities:
· Hiring litigation staff and casualty adjusters who handle coverage/liability/sheet metal for Major Loss claims
· Directs and controls litigation within Commercial Auto and ensures that all claims are handled in accordance with established corporate policies, procedures, philosophy, and applicable law.
· Collaborate with Commercial Managers and National Claims Examiners on coverage/liability for Major Loss claims
· Direct supervision of litigation and casualty adjusters and possibly some Team Managers
· Assisting and mentoring staff in on-going training and development
· Monitoring performance of teams compared to objectives
· Reviewing authority requests, files with catastrophic injuries, authority for coverage investigations, completion of Department of Insurance complaint responses, etc.
· Setting and maintaining best practices expectations of all staff through strong proactive leadership.
· Accomplishes staff results in a timely and accurate fashion by communicating job expectations: planning, monitoring and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; coordinating and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
· Complete necessary audits as required
· Ensures that uniform claim procedures are used for file handling including compliance with state laws and regulations and with Company policy and Best Practice.
Position Qualifications:
· 3 years of claims management experience is required with Commercial experience preferred
· Requires a college degree or equivalent work experience
· General computer competency and ability to efficiently and effectively utilize e-mail, internet software spreadsheets and word processing technology programs including MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook) programs
· Good analytical skills necessary to evaluate production staffing requirements, problem solve, and make decisions.
· Must apply for and maintain all applicable licenses required by the states handled by the department.
· Thorough knowledge of Company claims handling procedures
· Must have excellent communication skills
