Job Summary
The Occupational Therapist (OT) is responsible for un'ina (customer) assessment; evaluation; diagnosis, in consultation with the provider; plan of care; and evidence based intervention. The OT will assist un'ina who have an injury, illness, or de-conditioned state to improve their quality of life, manage their pain, and contribute to their overall wellness.
Essential Functions
- Provide quality care by assessing and interpreting evaluations and test results, determine plans of care in collaboration with the integrated care team
- Manages individualized goal-directed Occupational Therapy care through use of Occupational Therapy processes and principles
- Responsible as the primary therapy provider to implement, supervise and modify therapy plans of care, based on assessment of patient responses, to optimize the outcomes for each patient
- Collaborates with other team members in an integrated model of care to review un'ina status and remain in contact with providers
- Collaborates with other team members to assure appropriate medical equipment is arranged and care plan is established
- Document un'ina encounter findings and treatments including diagnoses, treatment plans, recommendations and prognoses
- Obtain un'ina informed consent to proposed interventions including risks, benefits, and any reasonable alternatives
- Develop and conduct in-service training programs for wellness and integrated care team staff
- Institute procedures in compliance with accreditation standards, participate in continuous quality improvement process and customer satisfaction activities

Qualifications
Education
- Master of Occupational Therapy Degree
Experience
- Two (2) years' experience in occupational therapy evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment
- Experience with computerized management information systems
License/Certification
- Licensed as an Occupational Therapist in Alaska, or obtained within three (3) months of hire
- CPR and AED certification
- State of Alaska Driver's License and remain insurable under the Tribe's policy
- Must have a valid Alaska State driver's license and must remain insurable under the Tribe's policy, or obtain within 90 days of hire, or, with approval of the hiring manager, sign a *Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in lieu of having a driver's license to perform the required duties of the position (If Applicable)
Special Skills
- Knowledge of HIPAA and 42 CFR, Part 2 regulations.
- Knowledge and experience working with Alaska Native/American Indian people.
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously as well as organize, establish priorities, follow-up on details, and meet deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal communications, public speaking and presentation skills.
- Must be a team player.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Conducts business in a service-oriented manner that is attentive, pleasant, respectful and kind when dealing with un'ina, visitors, co-workers, and others
- Ability to multi-task, work independently, and meet deadlines
