Job Summary: Serves residents, guests, and staff in the Cafe in prompt, organized manner. Cooks, and coordinates the food preparation for meals and non-meal items. Assures sanitary work areas, and clean attractive service areas in the Café. Trains and coordinates the work activities of new and existing staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assures the quality of service in the Café by ensuring proper service and staffing levels at all times.
• Maintains and records proper food-holding and serving temperatures per HACCP regulations.
• Serves as a role model by promoting a helpful and positive attitude with guests and staff.
• Assists when possible with individual menu needs.
• Ensures that staff properly clean tables, stock silverware, and set up the Café with the appropriate accompaniments for that particular meal.
• Ensures that the Café is stocked adequately by overseeing pre and post meal side work in accordance with each scheduled shift.
• Communicates items to be ordered and stocks all items needed to properly operate the Café.
• Works with other managers to address problems or concerns requiring more assistance.
• Assures the sanitation of the Café by overseeing the thorough cleaning of all work areas (floor, line, service and dining) before, during, and after shift.
• Makes sure that all special cleaning for the day has been done.
• Updates special cleaning lists on a regular basis.
• Works with staff to ensure accurate cash register and accounting procedures by monitoring register cash-out procedures, assuring chits are filled out correctly, making sure sign-in sheet is legible and assuring that residents, staff and guests are accurately charged for meals and other purchases.
• Maintains professional, accurate communication with Dining Services Administrative Coordinator and co-ordinates with Café staff to discuss café and child care information on a regular basis.
• Assures quality service by greeting residents and guests, assisting residents and guests as needed, being cheerful and courteous and recognizing and adapting to the various needs and requests of the residents.
