JOB PURPOSE AND REPORTING STRUCTURE:

Under the direction of the Ink Department Manager, this individual is responsible for the mixing, verifying, labelling, and staging of inks according to the requirements of the color standard and press schedules.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Maintain physical ink room inventories, including hazardous waste storage.
  • Assure all containers are properly labelled.
  • Involved in R&D projects related to the ink department.
  • Identify cost reduction opportunities.
  • Identify and participate in activities for controlling and minimizing ink costs.
  • Assist with press approvals.
  • Prepare press ready inks are within tolerance and readily available based on production needs.
  • Maintain all databases, formulas, and samples.
  • Follow all safety, regulatory, company policy, procedures, and rules.
  • Participate in production support teams.
  • Participate in pre-press production planning meetings as assigned by supervisor.
  • Comply with all procedures and personnel policies.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or GED minimum. Prefer education generally equivalent to 1-3 years of trades training and 1-3 years of related experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent. (Required to calculate ink needs/usage).

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Requires the ability to work with scales, hand proofers, light booth, densitometer, other measuring devices, as well as hand truck and barrel dolly.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls. The employee is frequently required to reach above their shoulders and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, climb or balance, and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and may sometimes be at risk for electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Pay: From $18.50 per hour
