Job Title: Telecommunications Technician (DSL, Bonded DSL, and Copper Phone Service)

Location: Eagle River, WI

Salary: $65,000 - $90,000

Benefits: PTO, Health insurance, 401k, PTO

Type: W2 Full Time Telecommunications Technician

Requirements (MUSTS):

  • Must have prior experience working for a telecommunications company or sub contractor as a technician working directly with copper technologies. 
  • You must provide a work vehicle capable of carrying a 28’ fiberglass teleco ladder. You are reimbursed for use of your vehicle. Truck, Large SUV, or Van acceptable.
  • You must already have all required documentation for working in the US. No visa sponsorship or relocation available. 

Telecommunications Technician Overview: We are seeking a skilled Copper Telecommunications Technician specializing in DSL, Bonded DSL, and Copper Phone Service to join our team. As a technician, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting copper-based telecommunications systems, including DSL and bonded DSL internet connections and copper phone services. Your expertise in copper-based technologies and strong troubleshooting abilities will ensure the smooth operation of our telecommunications infrastructure.

Telecommunications Technician Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and test copper-based telecommunications systems, including DSL, bonded DSL, and copper phone service.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to copper-based telecommunications systems, including identifying and resolving connectivity, signal quality, and speed-related problems.
  • Perform copper cable splicing, termination, and cross-connects as needed.
  • Conduct tests and measurements to ensure compliance with industry standards and service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Collaborate with customers, technicians, and engineers to address customer requirements and ensure the successful implementation of copper-based telecommunications solutions.
  • Provide technical support to customers, including diagnosing and resolving customer-reported issues in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate records of installations, repairs, and maintenance activities, including documenting all changes made to copper-based systems.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to copper telecommunications systems.

Additional Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or vocational training in telecommunications or related fields is preferred.
  • Proven experience working with copper-based telecommunications systems, specifically DSL, bonded DSL, and copper phone service.
  • Strong knowledge of copper cable installation, termination, and splicing techniques.
  • Proficient in the use of copper-specific testing and measurement tools, such as copper line testers, TDRs (Time Domain Reflectometers), and multimeters.
  • Solid understanding of telecommunications standards and protocols, such as ADSL, VDSL, G.SHDSL, and POTS (Plain Old Telephone Service).
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve copper-based connectivity and performance issues.
  • Familiarity with telecom equipment and technologies, including modems, routers, splitters, and filters.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, circuit diagrams, and schematics.
  • Good communication skills to effectively interact with customers, colleagues, and vendors.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment, managing multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • Physical stamina and dexterity to work in various environments, including climbing poles, using ladders, and lifting equipment.
