Kennco Manufacturing has been designing and manufacturing farm implements since 1973. We design implements used by farmers using raised beds and or plastic mulch in their farming practice. While our products are highly standardized most have customizations specific to our customer’s needs and are built to order under short time frames. We have a well-established and valued reputation for quality in our industry and our products are shipped and used all over the world. We also have a growing demand to fabricate and machine custom metal components and parts for our non-agriculture customers.
Kennco employs about 30 people and we are seeking the right candidate to join our team as the Director of Manufacturing and Operations. The Director of Manufacturing and Operations reports directly to the CEO/Owner and oversees the team of production employees and plant equipment. The Director of Manufacturing and Operations is responsible for directing the manufacturing operations to maximize levels of customer and employee satisfaction while improving the efficiency of manpower, materials, and machines.
Responsibilities include:
Overall responsibility for shop machines, equipment and staff.
Creating and maintaining work environment which promotes safety and quality
Accountable either directly or through delegation, for all aspects of plant performance and maintenance.
Ensures production goals are attained meeting quality standards and the most cost-effective manner.
Ensure all employees are following all company policies and processes.
Leads implementations to improve safety, quality, delivery and cost.
Coordinates with Shop Foreman and ensures he has all needed resources from other departments (purchasing, engineering, sales)
Ensure strategic operational/business plans are developed and implemented within the plant and analyze and report on achievements and/or gaps.
Holds direct responsibility for managing cost by effective use of overtime, and approval of expenditures.
Communicate, monitor and control the effective plant expenditure on labor, materials and expenses against budgets.
Create proposals/plans for capital expenditures to include planned ROI and growth opportunities.
Create and implement proposals/plans for employee cross training, and professional development training.
Communicates directly with CEO to provide/propose solutions for production limitations
Directly responsible for hiring and evaluating all production staff.
Required Experience:
Bachelor’s degree- Operations, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field of study.
Minimum of 10 years of Manufacturing and Operational management
Experience in Operations/Lean Management and with P&L responsibility
English/Spanish bi-lingual a plus
Ability to analyze problems and provide innovative solutions
Business knowledge of job estimating, inventory management, and resource management
Must have extensive knowledge of multiple manufacturing processes including:
Fabrication CNC and manual machining Metal forming processes Welding Structural engineering
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Computer literate in MS Office products, CNC programming software, and have the ability to quickly learn and use manufacturing software.
Must be fluent in reading and understanding blueprints
