The Center for Child and Family Traumatic Stress at Kennedy Krieger Institute has been operating for over 35 years and has received national recognition. The Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor is a primary therapist to children and families who have been exposed to abuse, neglect and violence.
Responsibilities
Qualifications
- Bilingual in English and Spanish with a proficiency level that meets the Institutes minimum standards. Able to speak Spanish fluently with ease and confidence in a variety of topics related to work, home, leisure activities, as well as events of current, public or personal interest or individual relevance. Able to convey intended message with accuracy, clarity and precision without misrepresentation or confusion while being readily understood by native speakers.
- Must be licensed at the LCPC level by the Maryland Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists.
- Must hold and maintain CPR certification.
- *Individual must demonstrate competence across all age groups due to the diversity of the children and families served by Kennedy Krieger Institute.
- *Clinical care focus is on the neonate, pediatric, and adolescent populations, as well as some adults with disabilities.
EDUCATION:
- Must have a Master’s degree in professional counseling or related field with a minimum of 60 graduate semester credit hours or 90 graduate quarter credit hours OR
- A doctoral degree with a minimum of 90 graduate semester credit hours or 135 graduate credit hours.
EXPERIENCE:
- Must have at a minimum of two years of licensed clinical experience related to providing services to children in the child welfare population with developmental and emotional disturbance.
