General Nature of Work
The
purpose of this classification is to perform administrative and general
accounting work, to process financial documentation, and to maintain financial
records for the City.
JOB
RESPONSIBILITIES
The
following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific
statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the
work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification.
Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Processes
accounts payable documentation; receives invoices from vendors; ensures
accuracy and completeness of information and that appropriate account numbers
have been identified; prepares and prints checks; runs related reports; scans
checks and documentation; and maintain related files.
- Processes
1099s; verifies and enters information; runs related reports; prints and mails
forms.
- Performs
customer service functions: provides information/assistance regarding City
services, activities, procedures, forms, fees, billing, payments, or other
issues; responds to routine questions, complaints, or requests for service;
initiates problem resolution.
- Performs
general administrative and clerical work; processes payments; monitors and
maintains data for required reports; answers phones; makes phone calls; makes
copies; sorts and distributes mail; sends faxes, etc.
- Communicates
with supervisor, employees, other departments, vendors, the public, and other
individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work,
exchange information, or resolve problems.
- Prepares or
completes various forms, reports, checks, tax documents, receipts or other
documents.
- Receives
various forms, reports, correspondence, invoices, personal checks policies,
procedures, manuals, reference materials, or other documentation; reviews,
completes, processes, forwards or retains as appropriate.
- Operates a
personal computer, general office equipment, or other equipment as necessary to
complete essential functions, to include the use of word processing,
spreadsheet, database, or other system software.

Data Utilization: Requires the ability to review, classify,
categorize, prioritize, and/or analyze data. Includes exercising discretion in determining data classification, and
in referencing such analysis to established standards for the purpose of

assistance, and/or interpretation to others regarding the application of
procedures and standards to specific situations.

Aptitude: Requires the
ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; the
ability to calculate decimals and percentages; the ability to utilize
principles of fractions; and the ability to interpret graphs.
Functional
Reasoning: Requires the
ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic
form. Involves semi-routine standardized
work with some latitude for independent judgment concerning choices of action.
Situational
Reasoning: Requires the
ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness and creativity in situations
involving a variety of generally pre-defined duties which are often
characterized by frequent change.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school
diploma or GED; supplemented by two (2) years of experience in accounting,
customer service or clerical work; or any equivalent combination of education,
training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and
abilities for this job.

Physical Requirements: Tasks require
the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but
which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and
materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of
time at a keyboard or work station.
Sensory Requirements: Tasks require the ability to perceive and
discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, and visual cues or
signals. Most tasks require the ability
to communicate orally.
Work Environment: Essential functions are regularly
performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
