The Location Buyer: Fresh role for Kennicott is an in house role designed to ensure supply chain excellence for the Dayton location while also managing inventory levels and driving a gross profit margin of 36%. This position requires strong organizational and communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks. The role splits responsibilities between purchasing for the Dayton branch and growing wallet share with assigned accounts. Scheduled hours to align with business need.
Overview of Position:
As the Location Buyer: Fresh, you will be a critical member of the supply chain team responsible for purchasing fresh floral products and managing inventory levels in the Dayton location. You will also be tasked with driving a gross profit margin of 36%. This role involves balancing buying responsibilities with account management duties, ensuring efficient communication and problem-solving related to purchasing and shipping.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Process and Manage Purchase Orders:
- Manage standard orders, ensuring all purchase orders are accurately entered and reconciled.
- Handle late orders by reconciling open products, airway bills, and truck manifests.
- Address imperfect orders, such as incorrect quantities, damaged products, wrong locations, or wrong items.
- Support the sales team with problem-solving related to late orders.
- Monitor the market to source products from approved CPO vendors.
- Collaborate with preferred vendors to ensure product availability.
- Maintain deep industry knowledge of products, vendors, competition, and trends.
- Manage multiple product categories to achieve financial targets.
- Partner with the Regional Director on region-specific product needs and communicate these with the Buying Team for sourcing.
- Assess market competition by comparing the company’s products to competitors’ offerings.
- Provide management with short-term and long-term product sales forecasts, special reports, and analyses.
- Manage Accounts Payables and Credits:
- Organize branch fresh accounts payable (AP) paperwork.
- Manage AP paperwork with fresh vendors.
- Follow up with vendors regarding imperfect orders and reconcile vendor credits.
- Communicate Effectively:
- Coordinate with the buyer and location operations team on daily operations, including truck readiness and management of missing or undelivered products.
- Generate reports on workflow and open issues.
- Participate in regular meetings with buyers and location operations to discuss work status and issues.
- Assigned Account Sales:
- Grow market share within your assigned accounts by understanding customer needs and delivering appropriate solutions.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills.
- Strong sales and customer service skills with proven negotiation abilities.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to travel within the regional market, including multi-day trips.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Proficiency with the Komet platform to ensure proper processes are followed.
