GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The Human Resource Coordinator is primarily responsible for the coordination of the hiring process, administration of the employee benefit program, and application of the various federal, state, and contractual policies as it pertains to the above; and performs varied confidential support functions. The Human Resource Coordinator, under the direction of the Director, is allowed a wide range of independence in the performance of these duties and may be required to respond to work needs during non-duty hours. This is a Monday through Friday, non-represented position. This position is subject to a background investigation process and you may or may not qualify for this position.

OTHER REQUIRED DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Answer and screens calls, furnishes information, and refers callers to appropriate staff; sorts, indexes, and files records and materials relevant to the agency; attends meetings; acts as backup to Kenosha Joint Services Board recording secretary; maintains current knowledge of the various laws, regulations, policies, and programs relating to Joint Services; operates copy machine, computer terminals and other office equipment; and performs other duties as required.(Shall include but are not limited to)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:(not limited to)
- Coordinates recruitment for job vacancies; administers electronic applicant tracking system (NEOGOV Insight); schedules appointments, interviews, pre-employment physical, etc.
- Administers or schedules pre-employment tests; maintains applicant logs and eligibility lists; employee orientation
- Administers or coordinates employee benefit programs including health and life insurance, Family and Medical Leave Act; COBRA continuation; Wisconsin Retirement System and sick, vacation and personal leave benefits
- Affordable Care Act reporting; Worker's compensation injury reports and logs; maintains employee files, grievances, disciplines, etc. and keeps current all relevant information
- Drafts correspondence independently for department staff as assigned; compiles data and information to assist in the completion of reports, annual human resource budgets, statistics, special studies and various projects

- Ability to read, write and speak English fluently and hear and understand telephone and verbal communications; vision capable of reading documents and operating equipment; ability to bend and reach
- Ability to mentally retain information on a short and long term basis; ability to schedule, organize and execute assigned tasks and understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to compile, analyze, record and assemble data and information in a meaningful and effective manner
- Comprehensive knowledge of current business administration and personnel practices; current knowledge of office practices, procedures and equipment
- Ability to enter data on a keyboard and to effectively use various computer software programs
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships; ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality, ability to handle a reasonable amount of stress; and possession of maturity and common sense necessary to exercise sound judgment and discretion in applying and interpreting policies, rules and regulations
- Ability to evaluate alternatives quickly, implement changes and evaluate their effectiveness
REQUIREMENTS:
- Applicants may be required to pass a series of qualifying tests including but not limited to an oral interview, physical examination, drug screening, and a records and background investigation.
