Energy Manager - Public Building Service Region 8
Position Description:
The Energy Manager will lead or perform work that involves collecting, analyzing, interpreting, and developing specialized information regarding building performance measurement. Work will also involve providing advisory services supporting building measurement system design, testing, procurement, operation, repair, and life cycle of the equipment. Work may also involve advising on or revising equipment maintenance programs. The work requires applying an intensive and practical knowledge of the characteristics, properties, and measurement of equipment performance.
Requirements:
- Knowledge is of the type gained from technical training, education, and experience in functions such as repairing, overhauling, maintaining, constructing, or inspecting equipment hence, 10 years of applicable experience is required.
- Education: Four-year degree in applicable field or two year technical degree or completion of applicable Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) equipment training courses and equivalent related work experience.
- Understanding of building systems, building management systems, and energy use.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including, but not limited to, the ability to influence and persuade internal and external Customers, listen effectively, and solicit input from others.
- Intermediate ability to use Microsoft Office programs including but not limited to, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Excellent organizational skills including, the ability to handle multiple demands and assignments, the ability to prioritize tasks effectively and efficiently, and the ability to manage resource procurement and utilization.
Working Duties (including, but not limited to):
- Maintains, troubleshoots, provides oversight and repairs problems with the Advanced Metering System.
- Provides software programming, calibration of the meters, ensuring the data is in a usable format and accurate.
- Compares meter data vs utility bills for accuracy and in the case of discrepancies/gaps he serves as GSA technical advisor in conversations with the utility providers.
- Tracks performance of utility company meters and initiates/coordinates replacement of failed equipment.
- Works with Property Managers and O&M contractors to optimize building energy performance, reduce energy use and lower operating costs. This is done by analyzing AMS, EUAS database, utility bills, developing building energy use profiles and team meetings.
- Tracks GSA owned meters and identifies meters, switches, network, routers, weather station equipment failures.
- Provides building level BAS support to property management staff.
- Conducts site visits to Region 8 facilities to meet with property management staff to resolve, assist in repairs, installations.
