- Must have graduated from high school.
- Must have had a minimum of two (2) years of recent work experience (4,000 hours) and/or Associate’s Degree in a related area.
- Experience and/or knowledge of effective practices when working with individuals with disabilities, preferred.
- Strong communication/interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students, staff, parents, administration, etc.
- Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to details, organize, prioritize and work independently, as well as schedule and produce work in a timely manner.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively work with culturally diverse student populations.
- Manufacturing experience/knowledge or ability to learn same.
- Assists in providing specialized instruction in the various aspects of Vocational and Career Technical Education (CTE).
- Assists students on a one-to-one or small group basis as directed by the instructor.
- Uses remedial and tutorial techniques, as directed, to assist students to gain the most from their instruction.
- Assists in maintaining discipline, aiding individual students, and assisting the instructor to have a greater influence on the learning process.
- Supplements the instructor’s demonstration of safe and proper use of the program’s tools, equipment, and machinery, with students needing additional assistance.
- Assists the instructor in maintaining a safe learning environment and monitors student behavior to maximize learning in the classroom, lab, and during field trips.
- Assists in the set up and operation of equipment used in the teaching process.
- Enters updates in the student database system (PowerSchool) and assists in maintenance of accurate record keeping including student performance/assessment.
- Maintains respect at all times for confidential information.
- Works collaboratively with students, staff, administrators and parents concerning student performance issues and contacts parents/local school staff when required.
- Reinforces and explains school rules to individual students and promotes good social relationships between students.
- Develops an understanding of all students and their individual needs.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal or Designee.
- Attends seminars/conferences to enhance training skills and professional development.
