LOCATION: Millennium Elementary School
Millennium Elementary opened in August 2000. Millennium serves a diverse socioeconomic student body of approximately 550 students. Our building includes a library, computer lab, stage/music room, gym, multipurpose room, commons, orchestra room and 23 classrooms. Millennium’s staff had chosen to follow the Basic School Framework written by Dr. Ernest Boyer in structuring their school community. Our educational program is enriched by a variety of specialists: IT specialist, general music teacher, band and orchestra teachers, PE specialist, integrated program staff serving learning delayed students, English Language Learners’ staff, counselor, psychologist, nurse, speech and language pathologist, and physical therapist. Millennium is a School-wide Title I building. Our students have the benefit of para-educator support in reading and mathematics.
- Valid Washington State certification with an elementary endorsement required and must be on file prior to beginning work.
- All teachers of kindergarten students must complete WaKIDS 101 training and the inter-rater reliability assessment. Classes are offered by the PSESD June through August. Contact the building principal or the district Early Learning Director for information on registration and compensation.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Major or minor in elementary education
- ELL endorsement
- Experience working with elementary school students
- Excellent technology skills and can use and incorporate computers/technology into curriculum
- Must maintain positive learning environment and have ability to relate to all students, parents, and colleagues
- Must be a team player with excellent management and communication skills
- Must be willing to share professional skills with other staff members
- Must have experience with or willingness to participate in integrated programs and/or team teaching
- Knowledge and/or training in balanced literacy, whole language/integrated curriculum, differentiated instruction, assessment tools and techniques, EALRs, constructivist mathematics, inquiry based science and social studies, cooperative learning, student learning styles, positive discipline and multicultural education
- Ability to exhibit multicultural and ethnic understanding and sensitivity with the ability to communicate effectively with all cultural groups in the school community.
- Experience working with a diverse student population and the specific school demographics

Salary : $41,300 - $52,400
