Academic/Veterinary Laboratory Coordinator, RC

Basic Function:
To coordinate and oversee the daily operations of veterinary and/or academic laboratory facilities at a Regional Campus. Assist in completing Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) duties as assigned at on-site or off-site locations. Reports to designated supervisor.

Examples of Duties:
Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following:
Assist in completing RVT duties.
Implement established rules and safety practices (IACUC, USDA, GHS, biosafety, EHS requirements, etc.).
Issue materials and equipment.
Maintain, order and inventory appropriate laboratory supplies.
Perform preventative maintenance on equipment.
Provide instruction to students on proper laboratory procedures and methods.
Assist in all on-campus and off-campus live animal laboratories as assigned.
Maintain accurate and updated charts, records and files on paper and electronically.
May supervise students and/or provide functional guidance of support staff or other employees who work on a project or assignment on a temporary or intermittent basis throughout the year.
Implement accreditation standards as set forth by American Veterinary Medical Association.
Lifting animals weighing up to 50 pounds from floor to table height and lifting and carrying animals across a room.
May serve on committees and attend meetings.
Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and two years of related experience.
OR
Associate degree in a relevant field and four years of related experience.
License/Certification:
Active RVT license in the State of Ohio.
Knowledge Of:
Personal computer applications
Skill In:
Written and interpersonal communication
Registered Veterinary Technician duties
Ability To:
Manage people and projects
Have transportation to off-site laboratory locations
Preferred Qualifications – if applicable:
Two years’ experience in veterinary medicine preferred.Assessments:
Asterisk (*) indicates knowledge, skills, abilities which require assessments
Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:
Moderate work – being able to lift up to 50 pounds from floor to table height and carry up to 50 pounds across a room. Incumbent must be able to communicate with others. Incumbent may be required to travel from building to building and off campus frequently.
Working Schedule:
SCHEDULE WILL VARY TO MEET THE NEEDS OF THE CLASSES EACH SEMESTER.
