Description
The Joseph "Eddie" Ballard Western Kentucky Veterans Center is a 156-bed long-term care facility located in beautiful Hanson, Kentucky that is committed to serving Kentucky’s Veterans by fostering independence, preserving dignity and providing compassionate care.

We are currently seeking a self-motivated, caring individual to be the Nurse Administrator (Assistant Director of Nursing) of our Nursing Department. The ideal candidate will work within a team-centered environment to meet our commitment to serving Kentucky's Veterans.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensures clinical rounds are completed and makes recommendations as necessary.
  • Assists the Nurse Executive in establishing/defining duties of nursing staff to ensure they are in compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Evaluates resident care on a daily basis ensuring resident care needs are met
  • Assumes the responsibilities of Director of Nursing in his/her absence
  • Conducts performance evaluations

This job requires mandatory COVID 19 vaccination or an approved exemption in accordance with CMS-3415-IFC from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. This means if appointed to the position, the applicant must have completed the primary vaccination series for COVID-19, which means the administration of a single-dose vaccine or the administration of all required doses of a multi-dose vaccine upon commencement of employment. The vaccine received must be one of the FDA-approved or FDA-authorized vaccines. Proof of vaccination will be required. If a medical or religious exemption is sought, the candidate must submit paperwork to the employer prior to appointment for review and approval.

This agency is prohibited from hiring employees with convictions identified in 906 KAR 1:190. A fingerprint- supported national background check will be conducted prior to an offer of employment.
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: See Special Requirements.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have three years of experience as a Registered Nurse.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: A bachelor's degree in nursing will substitute for one year of the required experience.

Working Conditions
Incumbents work with patients, clients or employees who may have been exposed to infectious diseases.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
