Position Overview
As an Intake Attorney, you will play a vital role in ensuring access to justice for individuals in need. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Screening callers to determine eligibility for Kentucky Legal Aid services.
- Conducting telephone interviews with clients to provide legal counsel or brief services.
- Evaluating cases for referral or other Kentucky Legal Aid services.
- Creating and maintaining accurate client case files.
- Staying informed on legal matters routinely handled by Kentucky Legal Aid.
This position requires adaptability, as employees may be called upon to perform additional duties to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the agency.
Qualifications
Required:
- Licensed to practice law in Kentucky or eligible for admission based on licensure in another state.
- Strong organizational, written, and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with legal and non-legal professionals.
Preferred:
- Experience working with low-income clients.
- Familiarity with housing or family law.
- Proficiency in Spanish or another language.
