Bi-Weekly Salary: Level I $2,854.89 - $3,411.86; Level II $3,154.35 - $3,769.74

Examination: Appraisal (Weight 100%): Will be conducted for the purpose of evaluating the applicant's training, education, experience, interest and personal fitness for the position. Appraisal can be based on any combination of the following: Investigation, oral exam and rating of application.

Should an oral examination be necessary, the oral examination will be weighted at 100%. 

Applicants must attain at least a 70% score on each phase of the exam process.

This position works in various departments throughout Kern County. 

Minimum Qualifications/Employment Standards:
Level I:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree, including fifteen (15) semester or twenty-five (25) quarter units in computer science, management information systems or closely related field AND two (2) year of programming and systems analysis experience in an information systems environment.
 
OR
Completion of sixty (60) semester or ninety (90) quarter units from an accredited college or university, including fifteen (15) semester or twenty-five (25) quarter units in computer science, management information systems AND four (4) years of programming and systems analysis experience in an information systems environment.

OR
Completion of an accredited technical or vocational school training program in computer science, computer office automation technology, computer systems technology or closely related field AND four (4) years of programming and systems analysis experience in an information systems environment.
 
OR
Four (4) years of programming and two (2) years of systems analysis experience in an information systems environment.
 
OR
Two (2) years as a Programmer II or Information Systems Specialist III.
 
An Information Technology Certificate verifying proficiency in programming, systems analysis and design issued by the Kern County Personnel Department or its authorized agent is required at the time of appointment.
 
Qualifying experience must have been within the last eight (8) years.

Level II:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree, including fifteen (15) semester or twenty-five (25) quarter units in computer science, management information systems or closely related field AND three (3) years of programming and systems analysis experience in an information systems environment.
 
OR
Completion of sixty (60) semester or ninety (90) quarter units from an accredited college or university, including, fifteen (15) semester or twenty-five (25) quarter units in computer science, management information systems AND five (5) years of programming and systems analysis experience in an information systems environment.
 
OR 
Completion of an accredited technical or vocational training program in computer science, computer office automation technology, computer systems technology or closely related field AND five (5) years of programming and systems analysis experience in an information systems environment.
 
OR
Four (4) years of programming and three (3) years of systems analysis experience in an information systems environment.
 
OR 
Two (2) years as a Systems Analyst I in the Kern County classification system.
 
Qualifying experience must have been within the last eight (8) years.

Additional Requirements: 
An Information Technology Certificate verifying proficiency in programming, systems analysis and design issued by the Kern County Personnel Department or its authorized agent is required at the time of appointment.

Valid California Class "C" Driver's License is required at the time of appointment.

Admittance to the examination will require a valid government issued photograph identification. Applicants who are unable to present proper identification must make arrangements with the Human Resources Division prior to the test date.

A background check may be conducted for this classification.

Following an offer of employment, you may be required to submit to post offer medical and drug screening tests at County expense.

This examination will establish an eligible list from which immediate appointment(s) will be made at the Kern County Fire Department. Other permanent and temporary appointments will be made as needed. Successful candidates will remain on the eligible list for a period of twelve-months, unless specified otherwise by the Civil Service Commission.
