Responsible for ensuring equipment is available and online to meet production goals Troubleshoot and make repairs to existing plant equipment, install new equipment, and building maintenance as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor. Relieve Boiler Operators as licensing and schedules necessitate Maintain a positive attitude amidst unplanned events and a willingness to be flexible with work volume and type. Willingness to contribute to the greater plant as a liaison to safety, quality, engineering, or production programs.
Essential Functions:
V. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. A. Essential Functions: 1. Operate plant boiler house and other utilities serving the facility, including sewer system, compressed air, chilled water, RO and well water systems, and security & fire alarm systems 2. Provide support to plant operations and other teams on their assigned shift (Red/Blue Days/Nights) to ensure equipment is available as needed for production 3. Execute urgent work orders and special projects as required 4. Work with various hand and power tools to repair plant equipment 5. Perform periodic non-sanitary welding and pipe fitting, per skill level 6. Troubleshoot and repair electrical and control equipment; work with 24V DC and 120, 220, and 480V AC power within boundaries of state regulations 7. Repair, assembly and installation of sanitary and utility service valves 8. Perform rotating equipment repairs and checks, including replacement of mechanical seals, impellers, and bearings 9. Performs relief work as a maintenance tech, as licensing and schedules necessitate B. Marginal Functions: 1. Ability to troubleshoot process control systems and equipment, including Allen Bradley VFDs 2. Experience troubleshooting and resolving more complex maintenance issues without direct oversight 3. Fabricate threaded pipe runs for low pressure steam and plumbing, pneumatic, and control systems 4. Operate forklift and aerial lifts 5. Help as required in the parts storeroom 6. Contribute to plant-wide programs in safety, quality, engineering, or production 7. May periodically be asked to serve as “on call” outside of standard scheduled hours to support critical work. During on call times, must be available via phone and to come on site as needed
Mechanical repair, general welding, some electrical troubleshooting, PLC troubleshooting, ability to use hand tools, hand-held power tools, and basic computer skills
Must have the ability to work alone and in close cooperation with production personnel. Capable of working through complex problems alone or with others to provide logical solutions
A Maintenance Tech will be subject to working in areas of high noise level and in hazardous areas. Burn hazards may exist when working on steam powered equipment. High degree of mobility is necessary as job requires climbing, crawling, bending, and twisting. Must be comfortable work ing from elevated surfaces, including ladders & manlifts, sometimes at heights exceeding 20 feet above the floor. Vessel entry and working in confined spaces may be required. Exposure to chemicals can periodically occur. Proper PPE is provided to mitigate the impact of any on-the-job hazards, consistent with OSHA and Kerry HSE requirements.
The ability to work outside for periods of time in temperatures varying from below zero to above 100°F is also required. The ability to apply force to lift heavy equipment and operate wrenches, hammers, pry bars, etc. and apply sufficient force to tighten large nuts and bolts is also required. The ability to regularly lift 25 lbs is required as well as the ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
