About the role

The Quality Performance Lead is responsible for ensuring quality standards and processes are met in a food manufacturing facility. This role involves training and troubleshooting SAP and Intelex systems, conducting audits, driving right-first-time initiatives, analyzing key performance indicators, supporting new product introductions, coordinating quality improvement strategies, and participating in risk assessment analysis. The Quality Performance Lead also provides training, promotes good manufacturing practices, and serves as a backup for the Quality Assurance Lead/Manager/Systems Lead.

Key responsibilities

SAP Superuser:

  • Provide quality training and guidance to users.
  • Troubleshoot and identify areas not meeting full SAP execution.
  • Collaborate with teams to improve execution.

Intelex System Administrator:

  • Ensure teams receive training for cross-functional use of Intelex applications.
  • Accountable for Document Control transition in Intelex.

Audit and Analysis:

  • Audit SAP and Intelex systems to ensure correct data entry.
  • Identify monthly areas of opportunity and continuous improvement.
  • Drive right-first time as a critical indicator across plant operations.
  • Ensure trending and timely closure of nonconformances and customer complaints.
  • Monitor Intelex System metrics, such as root cause analysis for foreign material.

New Product Introduction (NPI) Support:

  • Support NPI from a food safety and quality perspective.
  • Execute recipe/formulation/BOM changes in SAP (recipe control).
  • Support quality function deployment analysis for process capability.

Customer Product Quality:

  • Conduct customer quality statistical reviews.
  • Problem-solving for customer product quality-related issues.
  • Review and provide technical input on recipe or process changes post-launch.

Process Improvement and Standardization:

  • Standardize product design templates for food safety and quality attributes.
  • Coordinate third-party manufacturing activities to meet food safety and quality requirements.
  • Transition batch release process to Quality Control Department.

Waste Reduction and Efficiency:

  • Identify and eliminate non-value-added actions.
  • Research, analyze, and recommend solutions for workflow improvement.
  • Implement changes using statistical analysis tools.
  • Coordinate plant quality improvement strategy.

Compliance and Training:

  • Ensure conformance with corporate policies and standards.
  • Provide training on SAP, Intelex, Statistical Process Control, and new product introductions.
  • Deliver quality-focused training to production teams.
  • Promote good manufacturing practices.

Marginal Functions:

  • Participate in inter-departmental project teams.
  • Provide communication support to the QC labs.

Qualifications and skills

Key competencies:

  • Knowledge and understanding of Food Safety regulations, FSMA, and industry and market trends.
  • Knowledge of relevant GFSI standards such as SQF, BRC, IFS or FS 22000.
  • 2-4 years' experience in manufacturing settings.

Education/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Food Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or similar science/Engineering.
