Position: Financial Analyst
Location: Austin, TX
Job Summary:
The Kestrel Group is seeking a Financial Analyst with property and casualty insurance experience to assist with advancing our analytics and monitoring portfolio performance. The Financial Analyst reports directly to the CEO and is responsible for assisting with the analysis, assessment, forecasting and profitability of existing and potential deals. This skilled and capable professional will evaluate insurance M&A opportunities and must possess excellent analytical skills for financial modeling and reporting.
Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain financial models to support organizational decision making
- Perform due diligence and analysis on prospective projects and industry trends and make recommendations based on those trends
- Analyze past and present financial data and estimate future revenues and expenditures
- Organize data into accessible reports and perform various types of analysis using key metrics such as yearly growth, return on assets, return on equity and earnings per share
- Prepare routine and ad hoc financial reports for presentation to CEO
- Conduct market research and gather market intelligence to enhance analysis of opportunities
- Study a company’s financial data to give advice for guiding business investments and overall financial strategy
- Coordinate with other members of the finance team to review financial information and forecasts
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in demonstrating strong academic performance required; degree in finance, economics, business or other quantitative field preferred.
- Strong proficiency in creating Excel financial models.
- 2-5 year of professional experience relevant to investments, with an emphasis in property/casualty insurance and M&A transactions
- CPA, CFA, or MBA a plus
- Excellent listening skills, including the ability to identify and isolate concerns or objections, in addition to excellent written and oral communication skills and presentation skills
- Experience and proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Power Point and Adobe
- Ability to work on confidential information both collaboratively and autonomously
- Highly adaptable with excellent time-management and follow-through skills
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $105,000.00 - $145,000.00 per year
