What are the responsibilities and job description for the Admissions Counselor - Bilingual position at Keuka College?
Summary:
Represent Keuka College while assisting undergraduate and graduate prospective students with the admissions and enrollment process. Perform a wide variety of duties related to enrollment of prospective students interested in Keuka College’s evening, online, and/or on-campus programs, with a focus on increasing enrollment of Spanish-speaking students. Responsible for regional travel, territory management, and follow up with inquiries, applicants and enrolled students. Perform evaluation of required credentials (i.e., application, academic transcripts, standardized test scores if submitted, reference letter, and supplemental materials) on applicants. Assist the Director of Admissions with scholarship and enrollment decisions for students applying to Keuka College. Possible recruitment regions may include Western New York, Central New York, Syracuse, Rochester, Finger Lakes, North Country, Southern Tier, or Catskills/Hudson Valley, and out of state territories. In addition to regional recruitment travel and office hours on partner community college campuses, the position requires an in-office/remote hybrid schedule at the main campus in Keuka Park, New York for regularly scheduled office hours, trainings, meetings, and events.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Attract, recruit, and enroll new students seeking continued education opportunities delivered on-campus, online, or in hybrid formats.
- Understand details of academic programs including curriculum, philosophy, structure, costs, financing opportunities. Tell a compelling story about the value proposition for each program. Stay current on program evolution and new program development.
- Communicate information about Keuka College’s academic programs and services, Field Period®, co-curricular opportunities, faculty, student life, and other admissions related materials and processes.
- Manage enrollment territory and travel calendar. Fulfill travel commitments and participate in off-campus recruitment and yield events and fairs, i.e., visits to partner sites, community colleges, high schools, business, and other organizations. Attend tabling events, panels, informational sessions, presentations, conferences, and meetings as required.
- Assist with translating and creating new recruitment materials and admissions forms from English to Spanish.
- Develop strategic partnerships and tuition discount agreements with local businesses and institutions.
- Conduct campus tours, student interviews, presentations, virtual meetings, webinars, and other activities to support enrollment for prospective students and their parents visiting campus.
- Work closely with admissions team to meet incoming student enrollment goals. Forecast, track, and report enrollment progress for current term.
- Input student information, interactions, and maintain student files in our CRM (Slate/Colleague) to document all activity, interactions, and statistical records of prospective students and applicants.
- Manage personalized communications process for students at all stages of the funnel.
- Decision applicants and award scholarship if criteria met.
- Participate and assist in the planning of on-campus, off-site, and virtual Admissions events, i.e. Open Houses, Weekend Showcases, Accepted Student Day, Summer Visitations, New Student Orientation, Alumni Panels, etc.
- Supervise the work of Student Ambassadors as required.
- Maintain a professional and courteous attitude at all times towards co-workers, internal and external customers, representing Keuka College, its programs, policies, and procedures in a positive and professional manner. Maintain effective working relationships to ensure institution-wide teamwork.
- Attend provided/necessary training and other meetings to support effectiveness within the position as required.
- Consistently demonstrate high standards of integrity by supporting the Keuka College mission, vision, and values and adhering to institutional policies.
- Maintain a high regard for student privacy in accordance with the FERPA privacy policies and procedures.
- Regular and reliable attendance is expected and required.
- Perform other functions as assigned by management.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Proficiency in speaking Spanish required.
- Sales experience OR college-level Admissions experience preferred (i.e. prior recruitment experience, academic advisement, or career counseling experience).
- This position may require extensive automobile travel throughout the assigned territory, as required by the position; therefore, a valid driver’s license, and successful DMV check is also required.
- Computer experience required. Demonstrate proficiency in the following: Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. Experience working with a CRM; Ellucian’s Colleague and Technolution’s Slate experience is highly desirable. Experience with Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Skype, and Google Hangouts.
- Excellent planning, organizational and interpersonal skills. Ability to pay attention to the detail required. Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing. High level of written and verbal communication skills and an ability to work as a team.
- Understand and behave with a high level of integrity and complete confidentiality at all times.
- Ability to work under pressure with a high tolerance for interruptions, and the ability to work with diverse groups of people.
Physical Requirements:
- Some performance of job duties will require travel to branch campus locations.
- Some evening hours and occasional weekends.
- Occasional lifting up to 50lbs.
