About The Job
The Mutual Fund Trading Analyst is involved in every aspect of the trading, reconciliation and posting of mutual fund trade orders received from our external and internal clients. This person will participate in some of the more complex trading processes which may include broker/dealer, branch and broker representative issues. Additionally, the resolution of trade rejects and corrections both at the fund company and on the Global Plus custody system are included.
Essential Job Functions
This position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $50,000 to $54,000 annually depending on job-related factors such as level of experience. Compensation for this role also includes eligibility for short-term incentive compensation and deferred incentive compensation subject to individual and company performance. Additionally, the resolution of trade rejects and corrections both at the fund company and on the Global Plus custody system are included.
Essential Job Functions
- Place trades with various mutual fund companies on behalf of trust clients
- Post mutual fund trades in the Global Plus custody system, NSCC or direct at fund
- Send/receive wires associated with mutual fund trades
- Verification is performed for the initial purchases, large dollar notifications, cancelled trades, money market trades, manual trades and any other special instructions such as distribution options
- Responsible for the daily balancing of all cash associated with Mutual Fund trades
- Research and resolve any trade rejects on the Global Plus account system
- Research and resolve trades that have been rejected by the fund companies to ensure price protection for the trade. Timeliness and accuracy are necessary in order to avoid market exposure.
- Handle phone inquiries from the fund companies as to how a particular account will be traded.
- Work trade corrections by researching different corrections options with funds and communicating those options to the Line of Business for appropriate resolution
- Research and resolve any position outages with the fund companies which were trade related
- Communicate timely with fund companies on high dollar trades to ensure the trade date that the client is requesting
- Research ability to hold different funds and determine if KeyBank can purchase below minimums dictated with the prospectus.
- Assist the LOB in abnormal trading situations. Cleary state the client’s objectives to the fund companies.
- Communicate issues with the Line of Business using system and industry knowledge to determine the appropriate resolution.
- Code new account positions to ensure the receipt of weekly information from the mutual fund companies using the National Securities Clearing Corporation’s (NSCC) Networking system.
- Participate in the testing of system upgrades and disaster recovery exercises
- Create and/or update current procedures as changes occur in the process
- Participate in testing of Global Plus Releases and MUPS
- Four year degree in Business or Finance OR equivalent work experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven analytical and quantitative ability.
- Knowledge of Global Plus system preferred.
- Prior experience in trust operations preferred.
- Proven experience and success in a team environment.
- Proven problem resolution skills.
- Excellent organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proven ability to demonstrate the Key Values.
- Ability to learn detailed processes quickly and function independently with limited supervision.
- Strong peer leadership skills.
