Title: Finance Director

Status: Regular, Full Time

Reporting Relationship: President/CEO

Program/Department: Management

Supervision: AP Assistant (Part Time)

Salary Range: $75,000 - $85,000/annually

 

Position Description:

The Finance Director provides leadership and management of Keystone’s financial infrastructure to meet the strategic goals and mission of the organization.  This position provides financial reports that equip the Keystone President, Senior Leadership Team, and the Keystone Board of Directors with the information needed to manage the organization's financial health. 

 

 

Essential Functions:

Financial Management (50%)

  • Manage the finance function to ensure adequacy of working capital and cash reserves, including financial and cash-flow projections and management of investment returns
  • Oversee cash management functions, accounts payables, accounts receivables, cash disbursements, monthly payroll, and bank reconciliation functions, maintaining satisfactory separation of duties  
  • Lead budget preparation and ongoing budget management to ensure that resources are deployed to meet strategic goals, programmatic plans and contractual obligations
  • Supervise PT accounts payable accounting assistant (shared position), PT accounts receivable assistant, and activities of other staff assigned with finance-related duties
  • Develop, monitor, evaluate, and recommend procedures for internal controls, including efficient and cost-effective use of agency resources, and ensure safe-keeping, storage, and inventory of financial and accounting records and monies

 Reporting and Compliance (40%)

  • Prepare internal monthly financial statements and other analytic reports as requested by the President and senior management staff
  • Provide bi-monthly financial reporting to the Finance Committee and Board of Directors
  • Monitor program contracts and other funding to ensure that revenues are spent for intended purposes and are compliant with financial and legal requirements
  • Coordinate and supervise all agency audit-related activity, including 990 and other annual audit and regulatory reporting
  • Maintain schedule of capitalized items and depreciation
  • Prepare reports and budgets for grant proposals and special projects
  • Prepare accounts receivable invoices, in accordance with rental or other contract agreements, to associated individuals or organizations
  • Prepare month and quarterly grant invoices with associated documentation as required by the granting agency
  • Ensure timely preparation and filing of all required government reports (e.g., taxes, surveys, audit worksheets)
  • Communicate effectively with vendors, payers, outside entities, and organizational staff regarding financial transactions 

Other (10%)

  • Attend and participate in departmental/agency meetings and trainings as required
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned


Qualification Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
  • 6 years of accounting or financial management experience involving multiple revenue and expense sources including fee for services and social enterprises
  • Non-Profit experience including Grant Management and Government Contracts
  • Understanding of compliance using Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, supervise and communicate effectively with a diverse group of employees and experience working with management staff
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities including strategic planning and day to day financial operations
  • Strong interpersonal communication, written and math skills and detail oriented 


Qualification Preferences

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification (active or retired)
  • Experience working with MIP or other similar financial databases
  • Experience working with a Board of Directors and supporting board committees

 

Physical Requirements and Equipment Used

The physical requirements of this position include sitting, computer work, bending to file, lifting up to 20 lbs., telephone calls, and moving around the office.

The mental job requirements of this position include critical thinking, problem-solving, written and oral communication skills, planning, reading, and math skills. Also, the ability to maintain confidentiality, keep updated on accounting standards and principles, internal controls, practices, and procedures, and ability to exercise sound ethical judgment and professional conduct.

Equipment used includes a telephone, calculator, computer, and other office equipment.
