What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fiber Optic Cable Final Tester position at KGPCo?
SUMMARY:
Performs light loss measurements in fiber optic cable using an Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Position interprets the Production Work Order/Build Plan to determine exact fibers to be tested
- Position must have excellent eye sight including the ability to distinguish colors
- Requires extremely fine motor skills, will be testing very delicate optical fibers
- Accurately use a scope to view the connector
- Position with strip clean and cleave fibers to be tested
OTHER DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Must understand and follow KGPCo Safety practices.
- Must practice quality awareness and could implement quality control processes and procedures.
- Must learn and demonstrate the proper use of tools.
- Under supervision, performs OTDR procedures.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Some experience preferred, willing to train
- Possesses basic understanding of electromechanical processes
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read a limited number of two-and-three syllable words; to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers; and ability to print and speak simple sentences.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers, to multiply and divide with tens and hundreds; ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form; ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
