Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plans and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). Department of Transportation (DOT)
- Advises management on safety compliance concerns and preventative actions
- Develop and maintain safety data sheets SDS for hazardous materials used in the work place
- Collaborate with management to develop emergency response plans and conduct drills to ensure preparedness
- Monitor workplace conditions to ensure compliance with OSHA Standards
- Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses to determine root causes and develop strategies for prevention
- Plans and implements training for employees in work site safety practices
- Maintains safety files and records
- Performs safety surveys and inspections, prepares written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective or preventive measures where indicated and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented
- Conducts post - accident investigation and prepares report identifying possible accident causes and hazards for use by company personnel and senior management
- Sets up and conducts training
- Works to development, evaluation and upgrading of safety programs
- Prefer experience in OSHA, DOT, and EPA regulatory requirements
- Excellent Computer, communication and training skills in both English and Spanish
- Must understand the safety and operations of all types of suspended scaffolding
- Must be able to perform hands on training as needed
- Must be able to help upper management team to produce an acceptable budget for safety training and training materials
- Work with shop foreman on company vehicle safety by implementing safety inspections on all company vehicles to ensure all safety equipment is up to date such as first aid kits, fire extinguishers, accident/ insurance information etc
- Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined by management
- Must be available and willing to work such weekends and holidays as management determines are necessary or desirable to meet its business needs
- Must be available at all times for job site accident investigations or visits from OSHA Inspectors
Qualifications:
- Must have a minimum of 3 to 5 years' related experience and /or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Bilingual candidate preferred
- Ability to read, analyze, write reports, and present information and respond to questions from groups of Superintendents, Foreman's, clients, and sub-contractors
- Must have acceptable current drivers license for vehicle type driven
- Must be able to pass criminal background check
