Job Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook food products accurately and with minimal waste;
- Responsible for knowing and implementing all IHOP-specialized galley terminology, plating, menu items and procedures according to company standards;
- Ensures that kitchen equipment is clean and well-maintained;
- Ensures that kitchen area is clean and sanitary according to company standards and state regulated health code;
- Ensures proper sanitation and food-handling procedures;
- Ensures that service times for food are consistently met;
- Set up equipment, verify stock, and maintain a clean and sanitary work area while maintaining company sanitation standards;
- Restock, organize walk-in cooler, freezer, and dry storage areas;
- Communicate effectively and listen attentively to supervisors, employees, vendors and guests;
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays in addition to normal business;
- Maintain an exceptional personal record of punctuality and attendance;
- Consistently perform all duties in a responsible and efficient manner;
- Other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements
- Frequent reaching above waist, chest and shoulder level as well as and reaching below waist level;
- Frequent to continuous need for manual dexterity of both hands and wrists (pushing, pulling, handling, gripping, fine finger controls, etc.);
- Continuous standing on hard surfaces for many tasks;
- Frequent twisting and hip flexion while walking and maneuvering the kitchen for all tasks;
- Frequent exposure to cold/ below freezing and high heat temperatures (walk-in refrigerator, freezers, and ovens);
- Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (at least 8 hours);
- Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds;
- Bending, kneeling, squatting, stooping for various activities throughout the shift;
- Climbing on step stools for cleaning projects as needed.
Experience
- Extensive knowledge of food, beverage, and service industry; and
- One year or more related experience and/or training as a cook.
