Duties:
- KickStart Self-Defense is seeking a PT self-defense instructor/assistant with a strong background in martial arts, law enforcement or military, i.e. self-defense, hand-to-hand combat or weapons disarmament.
- Provide self-defense instruction to clients and students in various settings including fitness centers, dojos and high schools.
- Create a safe and inclusive environment for students to learn.
- Represent our NPO with professionalism and sensitivity to those who may have experienced sexual or physical assault.
- Demonstrate a strong knowledge of self-defense techniques. Provide feedback to students and clients.
- Collaborate with other instructors and staff to coordinate activities and events.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge and expertise in one or more of the following areas: martial arts, law enforcement, or hand-to-hand combat/weapons disarmament.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students, parents/guardians, staff and clients.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to respond to questions and to meet the needs of individual students.
- Patience and empathy in working with students with no prior knowledge of self-defense techniques.
