Kid Zone Early Learning Center is seeking a dedicated Teacher to join our Hopkins (MN) based team. Established in 1989 as a non-profit organization, we have a rich history of educators and families working together to create a community focused on learning and healthy living. Our educational philosophy is centered on The Creative Curriculum, a play-based learning curriculum that allows teachers and children to explore and pursue their unique interests. What you'll do:
Our Preschool Teacher would be working in a preschool classroom with children ages 2.5 years - 4 years.
- Collaborate with the Lead Teacher to plan and implement fun and interesting educational activities using the Creative Curriculum
- Model behavior consistent with Kid Zone's values and lead by example for other educators
- Interact with the children to support play, exploration, and learning
- Support children to learn and think creatively, solve problems independently, and to respect themselves and others
- Assist in developing culturally appropriate programs and integrate DEI activities into weekly lesson plans as appropriate
- Maintain established routines, provide positive guidance and build children’s self-esteem
- Keep parents informed of program expectations, program activities, and their child’s progress
- Establish a warm and receptive environment in the classroom
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to maintain assessment records and observations using the Teaching Strategies GOLD Assessment
What you'll need:
- Associates Degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education or related field (e.g., social work, elementary, psychology, etc.), High school diploma or commissioner of education-selected high school equivalency certification AND 24 quarter credits with at least 4,160 hours experience as assistant teacher
- Child Development Associate (CDA) is also qualified
- 1-year early education experience (may include working at a center and in-home if a licensed holder)
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate in writing and orally
- Report to work as scheduled and on time
- Ability to work with flexibility, efficiency and enthusiasm, both individually and as part of a team in a high-demand environment
- Love working outdoors and the willingness to work in various weather conditions
