Established in 1999, Kids Depot Child Care and Preschool Program is a state licensed facility currently licensed for 185 children ages 6 weeks to 12 years of age. Kids Depot is licensed under the Department of Human Services and exceeded all of the necessary requirements to become a State of Tennessee 3 Star Rated program.

Kids Depot provides Before and After school care for elementary school age children and serves Sango Elementary, East Montgomery Elementary and Carmel Elementary Schools. Transportation is provided for school-age program attendees and field trips activities.

Pre-School Teacher 3's Summary:

The pre-school teacher is responsible for the supervision and management of a classroom in accordance with the goals and curriculum plan of the Kid’s Depot Child Development Center. Their principal duties include: develop action plans, carry out activities daily and evaluate the effectiveness of the child development activities, ensure the safety and physical well-being of the children, maintain regular communication with parents and contribute to the effective operation of the overall childcare center program. The pre-school teacher reports to the Kid’s Depot Director.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: to include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Plan and conduct an effective child development program to meet the physical, social, emotional and intellectual needs of each child. This should be done based on the goals and general curriculum plan of the Kid’s Depot Child Development Center.
  • Ensure childcare routines are carried out in a manner that is prompt, hygienic and consistent with the good child development principles. This includes routines related to diapering, potty training, hand washing, eating, napping and transitioning between activities.
  • Ensure the safety of children through constant supervision, effective arrangement of space, proper maintenance of equipment and regular practice of fire drills and other emergency procedures.
  • Operate the classroom in compliance with all childcare licensing standards, paying attention to ensure standards prohibiting corporal punishment are obeyed.
  • Create a pleasant, inviting classroom atmosphere in which children feel comfortable and secure.
  • Provide positive guidance to help children develop the ability to be self-disciplined.
  • Provide experiences, which promote individual self-expression in conversation, imaginative play and creativity.
  • Provide a variety of language stimulation activities.
  • Provide experience involving thinking skills such as generalizing, classifying, sorting and problem solving. Provide a variety of opportunities to help children develop and understand appropriate relationships with others.
  • Ensure parents receive adequate information about their child’s experiences at the center through daily contacts and regularly scheduled parent conferences.
  • Maintain written records designed to evaluate each individual child in addition to an overall classroom setting.
  • Contribute to the operation of the center by participating in staff meetings and sharing information gained through attendance at workshops and professional reading.
  • Work as a member of a team to ensure continuity of curriculum and a high standard of quality in all classrooms in the center.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

An associate degree in child development or early childhood education and at least a year of experience teaching or two years’ experience teaching in a program of preschoolers.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

The ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry; possess ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to define problems, gather data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Reasoning to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and

Deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS:

Valid Tennessee or Kentucky driver’s license

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, feel, and reach with

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $10.50 - $14.50 per hour
