It’s all here for you at Kimberly-Clark. Responsibilities: Develop and manage occupational safety, health and hygiene program resources to ensure Mill, Sector and corporate objectives are met. Constantly works and communicates in a manner that fully supports world class goals of no loss, no incidents. Provide technical expertise in safety, employee health and industrial hygiene to Mill personnel and maintains OSHA regulated policies. Lead teams of employees in integrating safety, health and hygiene in all facets of manufacturing, including the development of safe work procedures and task analysis. Develop, maintain and implement procedures and other instructions relative to occupational safety, health and hygiene. Develops and conducts training programs relative to occupational safety, health and hygiene. Ensures development, maintenance and coordination of a system for investigating safety issues, near misses, accidents, and property losses. Represents the site in sector discussions, activities and initiatives related to Health and Safety. Also serves as a resource to other sites based on experience and expertise. Provides oversight for mill emergency response team relative to injury, explosion, chemical spill, and mill evacuation. Contributes to an environment in which all team members are respected regardless of their individual differences and are motivated to improve both their individual and team contributions to achieve desired business results. Ensure continued safe work practices of self and others by complying with company and governmental regulations. Maintain good housekeeping standards while eliminating and preventing losses of all types (injuries, illnesses, process loss, property damage). POSITION PURPOSE Provide leadership and technical resourcing to the Owensboro site in the areas of occupational health and safety and industrial hygiene. It is the purpose of this position to ensure a safe and healthy work environment, the prevention of loss, compliance to applicable laws and regulations, and to build capability within members of the organization. CUSTOMERS AND CUSTOMER EXPECTATIONS Key customer groups which the position directly resources include: all operating teams within the site, the Resource group, the Site Leadership, the KC Professional Safety Council, and the Safety Leaders of other sites within the sector. Customers expect safety and health expertise provided from a broad base of technical knowledge. The incumbent will provide leadership for continuous improvement in all EHS activities in support of achieving a loss-free environment. SCOPE This position reports to the Mill Manager. While the incumbent is concerned with all manufacturing aspects of the Owensboro Mill, the primary emphasis is with the development of loss prevention strategies, development, leadership, and administration of processes to improve safety performance, employee wellness. Areas of focus include: compliance with OSHA, development and implementation of safety and health policy and training programs; development of the Crew Safety Leaders; work with capital construction project team to assure human protection principles are integrated in equipment design. QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED A Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Risk Management, Environmental Engineering, or Environmental. In lieu of degree, five or more years of manufacturing experience, with at least 3 plus years in an environmental, health, safety role. Candidates with the Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred. Extensive knowledge of regulatory requirements; i.e. OSHA, EPA, NFPA. Demonstrated management and leadership experience Strong communication, collaboration and influencing.
