The Store Manager in Training (SMIT) reports to the General Manager and assists the Store Manager in creating and fostering an exceptional store experience for customers and staff alike. The SMIT follows the direction of the Store Manager and trains to learn how to direct store operations, develop team work, and ensure that sales and labor benchmarks are met and hopefully exceeded. The SMIT has a strong desire for continuous improvement and inspires the same desire in their team members. They understand that positive customer experience and team morale are essential factors to successful daily operations. The SMIT interacts with customers, vendors, and KWF Team Members in a positive and authentic manner at all times.
The Store Manager in Training embodies the spirit of servant leadership and sets a positive tone for a productive and happy team. The SMIT must be ready and willing to serve in any department needing help and to support store operations in any and all capacities. This individual embraces the mission and values of KWF by demonstrating a passion for the local and natural foods industry. The SMIT ensures their store is following KWF outlined inventory, ordering, and merchandising Standard Operating Procedures with the appropriate labor in order to meet financial goals. The SMIT is ultimately accountable for safe and smooth operations and a welcoming store experience.
Essential Functions:

- Ensures the following of KWF outlined policy for all money handling procedures.
- Monitors inventory maintenance and accuracy. Ensures functionality of the POS and ordering systems.
- Provides product feedback to the management, including making recommendations regarding new items to carry or those that should be discontinued.
- Has an in-depth knowledge of product selection and natural foods industry. Keeps abreast of industry trends. Able to quickly and accurately answer customer questions on product sources, preparation, and nutrition. Trains staff so they know where to find answers.
- Ensures a smooth and fully satisfied customer experience from beginning to end by managing staffing, stocking, safety, merchandising and customer experience.
- Treats coworkers like customers, giving great service to all. Promotes a store culture that is respectful and professional. Positive energy and desire to perform at a high level is infectious throughout the store.
- Tactfully handles customer and staff feedback with a strong desire to hear feedback and make the situation right. Uses feedback to improve future store experience.
- Participates in the hiring, training, coaching, development and evaluation of team members. Helps staff achieve goals.

- Track record for increasing sales in a leadership role.
- Two-five years of management experience (including directing work, scheduling, training, and evaluating).
- Willingness to make a commitment to the position to create stability for the company.
- Motivated and able to work a varied schedule including days, evenings, weekends and holidays understanding this is not a 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. position. Requires observation of store operations at all times of the week including weekends.
