Approximately a 3 mile drive from I-94 and 103rd St., and from I-94 and 131st St., the terminal unloads and loads tank trucks, tank cars, barges, and ships to/from bulk liquid storage tanks that are leased by our Customers. These bulk liquid products include chemicals, biofuels, aviation deicers, and vegetable oils.The Dispatcher position is primarily responsible for the processing of the Kinder Morgan and Customer paperwork required for accurate and efficient tank truck loading and unloading at the terminal. It requires interfacing with the customer hired carriers/drivers as they arrive to be loaded or unloaded, weighing the trucks on the scales to determine quantities, verifying order information, providing placards and product tags to the drivers, and entering the transaction information into the inventory system. Essential duties and responsibilities:Maintain professional relationships with customers, carriers and other Kinder Morgan employeesProperly handle paperwork as defined in the tank truck Operating Procedures to efficiently execute customer tank truck orders in Kinder Morgan's Galahad inventory system and customer inventory systemsMaintain high level of attention to detail to ensure there are accurate calculations to avoid serious and costly errorsWork closely with multiple departments as a team to avoid conflicts and meet all customers' needs / multiple demandsMust be able to multi-task with shifting prioritiesCreating plant operating orders, taking phone calls, interfacing with truck drivers, communicating via radio, contacting customers to and resolving conflictsIssue proper placards, seals, SDS, COA and product ID tags to driverObtain tare and gross weights of tank trucks; calculate quantity of product loadedCreate an accurate legal D.O.T. BOL that meets KLM, D.O.T. and customer requirementsAccurately complete tank truck movement data in the KM and customer inventory systems while providing great customer serviceFollow through on customer related issues to ensure complete customer satisfactionMaintain proficiency and accuracy using Customers orders, Kinder Morgan Order creation system (Galahad), and Kinder Morgan's dual verification procedureHandle issues and problems related to the movement of the customers' product by interfacing with the Senior Dispatcher, Customer Service Supervisor, Operations Supervisor, Dispatch personnel, CSRs and the Sales Department to offer and execute solutions and adjustments in a timely mannerMust be able to satisfy all customer requirements as the business demands. Promote teamwork among co-workers to ensure all customers are 100% satisfied in an efficient and timely manner.Must be current in DOT certification/trainingMonitor Customer inventory to ensure sufficient space/product available to complete requested orders to load or discharge tank truckPrepare daily / weekly / monthly customer reports and or Bills of loadingOther duties as assigned
Position Requirements
Education Requirements:High school diploma or equivalentCollege experience is a plus Job Requirements:Must have at least 3-5 years experience working in the liquids terminal industryKnowledge of DOT rules and regulationsExperience dispatching, scaling trucks and calculating loads according to DOT regulationsMust possess excellent math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages and fractions)Proficient in Excel, Data Entry and OutlookMust have the knowledge and ability with systems such as SAP and/or any other inventory systemsMust be very detailed oriented and have the ability to problem solve and troubleshootMust be able to work in a fast-paced environment with the ability the multi-task as well as manage the dispatching office with minimal supervisionMust be able to perform work as directed by managementIndividual must possess excellent customer service skills as well as the ability to work from written and verbal instructionsMust be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisors(s), adhere to required work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rulesMust be able to work quickly, independently and accurately under pressureMaintain regular, dependable attendance and high level of performance Physical requirementsInclude but may not be limited to walking up and down stairs, standing for extending periods of time and carrying up to 25 poundsMust possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers
