Position Description: Responsible for the maintenance, installation, and operation of Company gas compressors and industrial engines and compressors, appurtenances, terminals, process plants and other related facilities.
Position Requirements
Experience / Specific knowledge:
- Experience in maintenance and troubleshooting industrial natural gas fired engines and natural gas compressors.
- Knowledge of compressor, gas engine maintenance, gas treatment, liquids storage facilities, process plant, gathering pipeline system operations.
- Knowledge reading and interpreting blueprints, P&IDs and other diagrams.
- Excellent record keeping skills, i.e. engine hours, maintenance records, plant operation logs, environmental inspections, scheduling of produced water and condensate shipments etc.
- Knowledge and experience in safe handling practices of flammable gases, liquids, and high/low pressure systems.
Certifications, licenses, registrations:
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers.
- May be required to possess a commercial driver’s license, drive a company commercial vehicle and comply with all commercial vehicle regulations.
- Certification and/or training on Waukesha, Caterpillar, Cooper, Dresser Rand, Ariel, and other makes of industrial engine/compressor packages desirable but not required.
- May be required to achieve and maintain certifications as required to perform job duties.
- Achieve and maintain all Operator Qualifications and progression requirements applicable to the job classification.
- Must be able to perform all essential functions of the job.
Competencies, skills, and abilities:
- Basic computer skills (knowledge of MS Office, various operating systems, and other company software).
• Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals) • Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Customer focus.
- Ability to work with a team as well as independently, take direction from supervisors, keep required work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules.
- Job level commensurate with experience and skill set.
Physical demands/Working Conditions:
- Must respond to, and address callouts and emergencies after regular business hours including after dark hours, which may require carrying a communication device (mobile phone).
- Position is currently on a traditional Monday through Friday schedule; schedules may be subject to change to meet operational needs.
- Will be required to be on-call on a rotating basis.
- Must be able to withstand extreme weather conditions (hot and cold environments, rain, snow, high winds).
- Must be able to frequently: Enter confined spaces; Climb to, and work from elevated platforms, ladders and walkways.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 20 pounds in awkward positions, and 50 pounds from floor to waist.
- Must be able to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions, climb vertical access ladders and stairwells, carry up to 50 pounds and to see, hear, walk and talk effectively.
- May work in low-lit areas.
- Frequently required to work in high-noise environments.
- Occasional travel out of area may be required (less than 10%).
- Be available for shift work when applicable.
- Primary work location will be in the Altamont, Utah area; Candidates must live within 30 driving miles of the Kinder Morgan Altamont Plant for response time to call-outs (i.e., Roosevelt, Neola, Altamont, Duchesne).
