About the Role: This job is an excellent position for anyone who wants to see the innovative, groundbreaking work of DNRP go from idea, to legislation, and then to fruition and impact. It is for anyone who is passionate about policy, politics, and legislation.The primary function of this role is to be the process gate keeper of all DNRP’s legislative portfolio from creation to transmittal to the Executive Office as well as being the process point person for the state legislative session. This role is critical in polishing and keeping key legislative packages on time and up to standards. This would include gate keeping legislation involving trails, parks, utility rates, flooding, historic preservation, and much more. This position performs work remotely and onsite. About the Team: This group is responsible for fulfilling the policy, legislative and intergovernmental initiatives and objectives for DNRP’s portfolio covering solid waste, wastewater, water and land, and parks. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
What You Will Be Doing: Manages DNRP’s legislative SharePoint site.Works closely with Executive Office in conjunction with Government Affairs Officer to set up meetings, manage legislative feedback/editing, and provide DNRP legislative package by due dates.Tracks DNRP legislation and reports including coordinating and advising internal divisions on DNRP legislation and reports.Reviews and edits DNRP legislation and reports.Manages Lobbygov program, committee hearing agendas, and reporting for state legislative session.

Working Conditions: Remote and Onsite Work Details: Employees in this role work remotely from a home location, with onsite reporting requirements typically quarterly. The frequency of onsite work is determined by business needs and may be adjusted accordingly. Onsite reporting locations may be at various King County worksites including the collaboration space at King Street Center (201 S. Jackson St, Seattle, WA 98104). This work arrangement promotes work-life-balance and reduces carbon footprint under the department’s vision of Green Where We Work.Requirement: Employees must reside in Washington State and be within a reasonable distance to King County worksites to meet onsite reporting requirements.Work Schedule: This position is exempt from the overtime provision of the Fair Labor Standard Act (FLSA) and is not overtime eligible.Union Representation: This position is not represented by a union.Application and Selection Process: We welcome applications from all qualified applicants.
