POSITION SUMMARY
The primary responsibilities of a Cocktail Server are to exemplify uncompromising hospitality, provide our guests with an excellent experience and the finest beverages, accompanied by attentive, quality, and friendly service. The Cocktail Server must sell, deliver, describe items, replenish supplies, and act as a liaison between team members.
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES
- Arrive to work on time for shift.
- Solicits guest seated at tables in all areas at the Lounge.
- Ensure that dining area table configuration is set to standards.
- Ensure drinks presentation is up to par before serving it.
- Ensure drinks are delivered on time to any seated guests in the dining room/patio/bar.
- Delegate when applicable to other Cocktail Servers who in turn would take the drinks to the tables/bars in and around the Lounge.
- Responsible for ensuring that the drink arrives to the guest. It is important that the drinks are handled carefully and brought out in a timely manner.
- Deliver and describe beverages - responsible for knowing how each drink is presented in order to assure that the proper order has been delivered to the table.
- Maintain adequate supplies of items such as clean linens, silverware, glassware, dishes, and trays.
- Fill beverage and ice dispensers.
- Keep wait stations clean, set up, and take down stations appropriately.
- Wipe tables and seats per protocol.
- Bring guests sauces and or utensils and the like upon requests.
- Scrape and stack dirty dishes, and carry dishes and other tableware to the designated area.
- Cleanup work areas, tables, spilled food, drinks, and broken dishes, and remove empty bottles and trash.
- Perform serving, cleaning, and stocking duties in dining rooms in order to facilitate customer service.
- Interacting with customers by taking their orders, making recommendations, providing them with accurate bills, serving them drinks, processing payments, and supplying them with whatever they may need in a timely manner.
- Be knowledgeable about food and beverage.
- Constantly check drink quality, consistency, and presentation coming from all bars.
- Be familiar with all beverage-related procedures, equipment, and assist the bartender when needed.
- Collect money for drinks served.
- Attempt to limit problems and liability related to customers’ excessive drinking by taking steps such as persuading customers to stop drinking or ordering transportation for intoxicated patrons.
- Checking identification to ensure customers are the proper age to purchase alcoholic beverages.
- Check coolers and bar to ensure it is fully stocked, if not, bring appropriate amounts of each product as directed by the bartender.
- Checks and assists the team in maintaining adequate amounts of supplies, i.e., stir sticks, napkins, coasters, etc., for both the immediate bar and extended service area. Remove soiled items.
- Wash and restock all the glassware to full capacity according to par levels.
- Remove, wash, and place all bar mats in their proper location.
- Wash all bar tools (strainers, shakers, bar spoons, jiggers etc.) Once clean they must be placed back in their designated location behind the bar.
- Attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.
- Promptly report all maintenance issues.
- Service-oriented must have a professional attitude, you will be dealing with high-end customers.
- Adhere to all state and federal requirements regarding the sale of alcohol.
- Adhere to all Health Department requirements.
- Adhere to all work rules, procedures and policies established by the company.
- Any other duties as assigned by the company in order to operate the business most efficiently.
Physical REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to hear effectively to take a guest order in person and over the phone.
- Ability to speak and write down specials, menu items and ask questions to verify order
- Ability to type and tap keys to complete point of service sale
- Ability to make change and calculate ticket manually if necessary.
- Ability to walk/stand up 100% of the time.
- Ability to grasp, hold, set down, redirect with hands, turn, control and manipulate objects
- Ability to use body parts, arms, hands, shoulders and back, to elevate an object above its previous surface level.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds waist high and up to 20 pounds overhead.
- Ability to bend, stoop, squat, carry, push and lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis; must be able to stretch to fulfill cleaning/inspection tasks.
- Ability to climb steps, ladders and other vertical and semi-vertical surfaces to reach a higher level
- Ability to use body parts on a regular and continuing basis to repeat the same motions for a reasonable period of time without resting.
- The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Minimum two years of high-volume experience preferably in hotels or restaurants
- Exceptional guest service skills.
- Must be able to work without close supervision.
- Flexible and long hours sometimes required.
- Availability to work holidays, nights, and weekends
- Associates may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the lounge.
- Tips certification and or Safe Serve Certification, responsible venders.
