Staff Position Description

Position Title: Enterprise System Engineer 3 Position Code: EngEnt3-8135

Department: Information Systems Safety Sensitive: YES

Reports to: Chief Information Officer/Manager Exempt Status: YES

Position Purpose:

All KHI employees are expected to perform their respective tasks and duties in such a way that supports KHI’s vision of providing the region’s best clinical care and patient service through an environment that fosters respect for others and pride in performance.

The Enterprise Systems Engineer 3 will focus on enterprise systems engineering projects performing technical project-based duties with regards to the planning, designing, installation, configuration, and integration of systems and networks within an enterprise environment. Implements or support projects, develop deliverables/artifacts, maintain schedules and milestones and work closely with the team lead/project manager to ensure project functions are planned and executed in compliance to best practices. Projects will be of varying complexities and durations such as task statement development or input, requirements gathering and development, system designs to include upgrades, or enhancements, or next level of technology recommendations/implementation. This work may include network, storage, tech refreshes, Exchange 2010 upgrade and migration, File System Upgrade implementation, Remote office upgrades, Wireless implementation, virtual environment implementation (VMware) and other projects.

Key Responsibilities [List of material responsibilities and essentials duties which must be completed in achieving the objectives of the position]

· Utilize enterprise system design experience to design and implement platform solutions on an enterprise scale to include planning, designing, installation, configuration, and integration of systems and networks within an enterprise environment.

· Participate in design activities in VMware, implementation and administration.

· Analyze network topologies, traffic and capacity requirements.

· Analyze data communications networks, including planning, designing, evaluating, selecting, upgrading, operating systems and protocol suites.

· Subject Matter Expert (SME) with VMware, vCenter and vSphere 4.x-5.x.

· Support, design and implement Citrix XenApp systems to deliver critical applications.

· Design, implement and maintain all systems to contribute highest return on investment while maintaining security.

· Supports problem solving responsibilities when trouble shooting fails at the first and second level support team.

Customer Service

· Provides and maintains excellent customer service as reported by IS customers.

· Adheres to the Behavioral Expectations Agreement.

· Effectively manages work orders and/or project assignments.

· Meets project deadlines 90% of the time.

· Encourages the user community to actively participate in developing requirements, testing, and acceptance of the system.

Qualifications [Statements regarding minimum educational and experience qualifications, required proficiencies with specialized knowledge, computer proficiencies, military service, required certifications, etc.]

· Participate in design activities in VMware, implementation and administration.

· Participate in design activities in NetApp, implementation and administration.

· Expert-level Microsoft Active Directory design (MCITP / MCSE).

· Expert level knowledge of AD, DNS, DHCP, LDAP, Windows Server 2003, 2008.

Education: Bachelors of technology service design or equivalent work experience of 6 or more years of technical industry experience, preferably in Health Care.

Experience:

· 6-8 years of progressive network engineering experience aligned with the following systems and services. VMware, Citrix, NetApp/EMC storage, Cisco/Juniper Networking and clustered systems.

· Experience working with VMware vSphere, vCenter, vMotion, HA / DRS, SRM.

· VMware design, implementation and administration (VCAP-DCD level of practical experience).

· Experience working in multi-domain environment, group policies, GPO management.

Preferences [Preferred attributes for the position which are not absolutely required in the minimum qualifications (i.e., multi-lingual, master’s degree)]

Experience:

· NetApp experience.

· Citrix XenApp services and Citrix Access Gateway experience.

· VPNs, Firewalls & Network Security experience.

· CommVault and Enterprise backup systems experience.

· Must be able to stand and/or walk for periods of 2 hours or more.

· Must be able to lift equipment up to 50 lbs.
