Position Purpose: Provides nursing assistance and patient care to provide for the comfort, safety and personal needs of patients. Assists physicians/physician assistants/nurse practitioners in medical office setting. Performs a variety of patient care duties within the construct of a multidisciplinary patient care team as delegated by physician.

Hours/Shift:  Full Time/Days 7:00 am - 7:00 pm. This is a 12 hr work schedule for 3 days a week. Shifts may include holidays and weekends.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • LPN
    • Works under the direction of the provider and the Arizona State Nurse Practice Act to provide professional nursing care for clinic patients in compliance with nursing standards and regulations.
    • Triage patients by phone or in person, receiving and implementing telephone physician orders, maintaining clinical communication in a dynamic environment.
    • Assists providers and staff in coordinating patient care for both clinic and procedures.
    • Performs CLIA waived lab tests and obtains specimens, performs proficiency testing and runs controls for waived tests.
    • May perform venipuncture.
  • MA
    • Responsible for patient care under the direct supervision (in the office suite or exam room) of a Physician, Physician Assistant, or Nurse Practitioner.
    • Escorts patient to the exam room and prepares patient for the exam including vital stats, history, and reason for seeking care.
    • Cross trains in data entry, balancing of accounts, charge fees and collect payments due Schedules/confirms appointments.
    • Performs CLIA waived lab tests and obtains specimens, performs proficiency testing and runs controls for waived tests.
    • May perform venipuncture.

Qualifications:

  • LPN Candidates
    • Graduate of a practical or vocational nursing program 
    • High school or Equivalent
    • Current, valid Arizona LPN license or compact state LPN/LVN license
    • American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS certification
  • MA Candidates
    • High School or Equivalent
    • American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS certification
    • Must meet one of the following criteria:
    • Has attended an medical assistant training program accredited by one of the following:
      • The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs or The Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools;
    • If attended a medical assistant training program not accredited by one of the above, the candidate must have one of the following certifications: CCMA; RMA; CMA; NCMA; NRCMA; CMAC
    • Has completed a medical services training program of the Armed Forces of the United States

Work Requirements:

  • Must be able to distinguish appropriate colors,communicate using telephone, and able to consistently reach and/or work above and below shoulder level lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Capable of walking or being on feet 90% of time per day with frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, standing and sitting at desk 10% of the time per day
  • Expected duties have routine potential for exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues and to chemicals, biological, and radioactive substances
