What are the responsibilities and job description for the CNA (LTC) position at Kiowa District Healthcare?
Responsibilities
- Provide all activities of daily living as needed by each patient including:
- Assist with bathing as needed
- Assist with oral care in morning and before bed time
- Assist with dressing patient as needed
- Assure bedding is clean and made appropriately
- Assist with meal set up, delivery, and feeding as needed
- Provide range of motion exercises as indicated by physician order or physical therapy guidelines
- Ambulate patients and educate on correct gate and using assistive devices
- Assist patients for toileting needs
- Hourly rounds and bed checks
- Observation of skin for signs of breakdown
- Assist in skin breakdown prevention
- Report changes in patient condition to charge nurse
- Respect patient’s rights
- Provide patient privacy and resect patient confidentiality
- Assist nurses with patient admit and discharge
- Measure vital signs accurately and promptly
- Assist Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses with patient care
- Provide quality patient care to the best of ability
- Be on time to each scheduled shift
- Be well groomed while at work with clean appearance and caring attitude
- Educate yourself to know where supplies are stored
- Restock shelves with needed supplies each shift
- Remove bedding and any disposable items from patient room immediately following patient discharge.
- Follow universal precautions at all times
- Respond in a reasonable amount of time to all call lights
- Always be courteous and helpful to patient, family members, or guests.
- Manage and operate equipment safely and correctly.
- Document patient information in Nextgen using:
- Bedside rounding log
- Dietary assessment
- Vital signs, weights, bowel movements, and Intake and Output in Flowsheet
- Hourly rounding in freetext charting.
- Hold a current Kansas Certified Nurse Aide License or be willing to do on the job training.
- Have comprehensive knowledge of infection control practices, safe lifting practices, and caring for patients of any age group.
- Willingness to participate in in-service training.
- Have good physical and mental health.
- Maintain CPR certification
