KIPP Oklahoma currently educates over 1,000 students and supports hundreds of alumni. Today, the KIPP Oklahoma network consists of KIPP Tulsa Public Charter Schools (grades 6th – 12th) and KIPP OKC Public Schools (grades PreK, Kindergarten and 5th – 8th). KIPP OKC Public Schools is growing one grade per year until they are a full PreK – 8th grade program.

Job Description

KIPP Tulsa University Prep High School is looking for an innovative STEM teacher to teach general and AP Computer Science classes. Candidates ideally have relevant experience and/or coursework, but more importantly, they must have the energy and passion to empower our students through technology.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES OF HIGH SCHOOL COMPUTER SCIENCE TEACHER

The Computer Science teacher will...

implement curricula and activities to meet academic standards, including teaching Computer Science, AP Computer Science Principles and AP Computer Science Principles.
design and implement assessments that measure progress toward academic standards;
use assessment data to refine curriculum and inform instructional practices;
participate in collaborative curriculum development, grade-level activities, and school-wide functions;
provide consistent rewards and/or consequences for student behavior;
be accountable for students’ mastery of academic standards;
communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues; and
will participate in annual three-week staff orientation and training.

Qualifications

Drive to improve the minds and lives of students in and out of the classroom;
Proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom;
Mastery of and enthusiasm for academic subjects;
Evidence of self-motivation and willingness to be a team player;
Bachelor’s degree is required; and
Minimum of two years teaching/education experience in an urban public school or charter school setting preferred.
By the time that employment begins, candidates must have received a Bachelor's degree from a College or University.
Valid State Certification is helpful and we will allow for you to complete within 18 months of your starting in the role. Belief in and alignment with KIPP Tulsa's core beliefs and educational philosophy is non-negotiable.
