We are committed to furthering anti-racism, equity, and racial justice in all our efforts, and expect all of our stakeholders to participate in this work so that we can create a future without limits for our students, togetherJob DescriptionGrade(s): Elementary SchoolPosition OverviewThe Academic Interventionist is responsible for working directly with students to provide tutoring, coaching, goal-setting, and academic case management to achieve measurable improvements in academic performance.Duties/Responsibilities:Instructional InterventionDevelop academic lesson plans based on students' individual learning needs as required: intervention should be engaging as well as enable learning and recall of new knowledge strengthened through different exposures of “doing” (i.e., seeing, hearing, touching, etc.)Use data to facilitate students’ improvement and increase engagement as a result of their sustained participation in KIPP’s blended learning programsProvide students with daily feedback on mastery performance in character and academicsFacilitate intervention that is collaborative and is socially-centered, allowing young people to build skills through learning as a teamLead small-group tutoring, coaching, goal-setting, and academic case management designed to bridge the gaps in students’ understanding.Demonstrate strong pedagogy and authentic interest in the academic growth and development of studentsBlended Learning ConnectionsCollect/enter student data on academic gains and other outcome targets. Consistent completion of all required documentation: forms, grade checks, assessments, attendance records, etc.Organize own work daily, weekly, and monthly to ensure key deadlines are met and are completed on time and according to established policies and procedures.Communicate student progress as needed to core-content teachers.Commitment to School and Classroom CultureWork collaboratively with your school team and those across KIPP Capital RegionHelp develop school-wide culture that best fits the needs of our students, teachers and familiesAttend and participate in all staff meetings and communicate openly with staffDevelop positive rapport with studentsCreate and foster a positive and calm learning environmentEnforce, uphold, and exhibit school’s values, student management policies and cultureFamily EngagementEstablish and maintain strong communication lines with all parents and share progressBe available for open houses, parent teacher conferences and other events involving parentsMake him/herself available to students, parents and other staff membersGrowth MindsetPursue challenging professional goals each yearWilling to offer support and receive constructive feedback from colleagues in order to create a professional working atmosphere that is conducive to change and improvementParticipate in school-wide and individual professional development, including pre-service training over the summer and weekly during the academic year (held during school hours)Performs other duties as assignedQualificationsBachelor’s degree from an accredited College or University, requiredValid NYS Teaching Licensure or willingness to pursue state certification, requiredExperience as a school educator, preferably in a charter or public school environment, preferred.Prior experience working in schools and urban communities is preferred but not required.Ability to take initiativeEffective verbal and written communication skillsAbility to work a flexible schedule outside of regular business hours.Aptitude to create and work within an inclusive environment that honors and supports a diversity of backgrounds and perspectives.Additional InformationWORK PERKS

KIPP Capital Region offers a competitive salary ranging from $56,000 - $113,927. Salaries are determined using an equitable compensation scale that accounts for years of experience relevant to the role and longevity within the KIPP network.
