SUMMARY
The Site Customer Service Supervisor will be responsible for the oversight of all operations at the assigned facility. This role will include all customer service aspects of the operation, including serving as the one point of contact for the facility management and the operational oversight.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES (include the following, other duties may be assigned)
- The Site Representative will be responsible for the management of the relationship between the assigned facility and Kirby. This responsibility includes:
- Serve as the single point of contact representing Kirby to the Facility Management and employees.
- Representing Kirby at any facility safety meetings.
- Recording and investigating service failures, e.g. late delivery, operational issues.
- Develop plans for special operations and liaison between the impacted Kirby departments to ensure the operation is completed smoothly.
- The Site Supervisor is responsible for deciding which issues require additional planning and/or action to meet the customer’s needs.
- The Site Supervisor is responsible for informing other departments within Kirby of the actions that will be required to meet the customer’s expectation and following-up to ensure the requested actions are taken and the desired outcomes are reached.
- Communicate ETA and orders as requested by Dock Coordinates to facilitate the development of the dock schedule. The Site Supervisor will assist the facility management with ensuring Kirby is providing the most efficient operation by ensuring all Kirby operations are executed smoothly and in a timely manner.
- Using their expertise of the facility, customer and operations, the Site Supervisor will assess the situation at their assigned facility and develop a plan to prevent downtime, delays and barge rejections. Their decisions about the overall utility of the facility can impact the company’s bottom line.
- The Supervisor will be responsible for the management of his/her own schedule, to ensure the customer needs are met. The supervisor will have to balance the various aspects of the operations at the facilities to determine the times that will most benefit the operation to be present at the facility.
- Supervise tankermen assigned to complete transfer operations at the site to ensure safe operations. The supervision requirements include:
- Manage and oversee the tankermen involved in transfer operations at the facility, e.g. critical tasks, valve alignment checks, and unique operations.
- Utilize the transfer audit tool to evaluate and assess the performance of tankermen operating with-in the facility, impacting the tankermen annual performance operation.
- Communicate tankermen deficiencies observed with management, resulting in disciplinary action towards the tankermen including the possibility of termination.
- Complete tankermen assessments to facilitate employee promotions within the Kirby Tankering Program.
- The Site Supervisor is routinely involved in the decision-making process regarding tankerman employment actions (i.e.. promotions, discipline, etc.) Their feedback of the day to day behaviors, competency and activity of the tankerman is critical to the decision-making process.
- Periodically complete transfer related activities to ensure the customer needs are met.
- Serve as on-scene management during and after any incidents to ensure no additional harm.
- Lead the response to any Kirby incident at the assigned facility, including responding to the incident and serving as the On-Scene Incident Commander, developing plans to mitigate the impact to any event, and assisting with the investigation process.
- Manage any specialty or unique operations that may occur at the facility, to meet the customers need, including coordinating with the various Kirby departments to ensure the appropriate resources and in-place and assist the facility with the development of a plan.
REQUIRED JOB SKILLS

- Ability to operate a company motor vehicle. Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record

WORKING CONDITIONS

QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience: Minimum 5 years’ experience in the marine industry, including thorough working knowledge of tank barge operations and Kirby tank barge equipment. Current MMC with PIC (DL-barge) and/or (LG-barge) endorsement required.
