Machine Control TechnicianPosition Purpose
The Machine Control Technician will provide technical assistance with factory field control integration, Komatsu Smart Construction products, Topcon's aftermarket machine control products, and other products related to machine control and technology. This position will support customers' needs in addition to training, troubleshooting, installing, and repairing machine control systems.
Machine Control TechnicianEssential Functions
- Install, remove, troubleshoot, and repair the grade control systems utilized in equipment sold, rented, and serviced by Kirby-Smith Machinery
- Coordinate grade control demonstrations with the internal sales force and customers
- Provide product support and training during demonstrations in addition to after-sale support and training
- Develop and maintain a complete working knowledge of the manufacturer's smart construction products as well as Topcon Grading Systems
- Develop an awareness of the competition and competitive products and industry trends
- Understand customers' overall equipment needs and identify new areas of business opportunity
- Sell equipment, parts, accessories, rentals, and services as a total customer solution and build long-term relationships within the territory to maximize customer and company profitability
- Provide timely follow-up with customers and the sales team to ensure the best possible customer experience
- Use company systems/tools to document, track, follow up, and capture all sales and product support activity in a timely and accurate manner
Machine Control TechnicianQualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Minimum two (2) years of experience with electronics, mechanical, hydraulics, and/or electrical preferred
- Exceptional communication skills - the ability to effectively present technical information and train new users
- Ability to learn the operation of heavy equipmentfor the purpose of demonstration and training
- Customer service oriented
- An understanding of construction-related principles
- Proficient with using computer networks, systems, and software
- Mechanical skills and the ability to work safely both individually and as part of a team in a shop or field environment
- Knowledge of and experience with GPS products preferred
- Experience in problem-solving technical issues preferred
- Land/Construction Surveying knowledge with the ability to utilize land/construction surveying equipment is a plus
- The ability to weld and knowledge/understanding of machine hydraulic systems is a plus
Machine Control TechnicianPhysical Requirements
- Pushing/Pulling/Lifting/Carrying up to 50 pounds without assistance
- Physical ability to squat, twist, turn, bend, stoop, climb, and reach overhead
- Must be able to work in extreme heat or cold and/or wet, damp, dusty, or windy conditions and tolerate exposure to typical noises, hazardous materials, and fumes/odors
- Physical ability to perform maintenance on equipment for extended hours of time with continual mounting and dismounting throughout the workday
- Ability to adhere to personal protective equipment (PPE) policy and maintain individual PPE in a functional condition
