Preschool Assistant Director

Summary of Position

The ideal candidate is a highly professional self-starter. This person has experience in elementary or early childhood setting, and is an excellent communicator. The Assistant Director works a full-time schedule from 7:45 to 4:00 Monday through Friday, with a 30-minute lunch break. This position reports directly to the Preschool Director and is reviewed for quality of performance and compliance with the beliefs and policies of the Kirk of the Hills church.

Major Duties:

1. Responsible for the Programming functions of the Preschool, including but not limited to the following:

  • Help coordinate school activities, events and programs
  • Communicate with team regarding planned events
  • Familiar with daily classroom schedules to assist with coverage when needed
  • Schedule and conduct tours of Preschool
  • Oversee daily set-up schedule
  • Utilize classroom volunteers to help with events, and set-up as needed

2. Responsible for monitoring Safe & Healthy Environments of the Preschool, including but not limited to the following:

  • Routinely inspect all environments for safety
  • Help plan, schedule, and communicate emergency drills with staff
  • Help monitor preschool doors for access
  • Maintain current health and immunization records
  • Help facilitate teacher training for student allergies & medication administration

3. Responsible for the Administrative function of the Preschool, including but not limited to the following:

  • Answer phones, emails
  • Monitor enrollment wait lists
  • Manage enrollment
  • Ensure all communication with families is timely and clear
  • Oversee inventory of classroom supplies
  • Oversee resource closets are clean, safe and organized
  • Gather teacher supply lists; order and distribute supplies

4. Responsible for some Human Resources functions of the preschool, including but not limited to the following:

  • Schedule new staff training and development with team
  • Knowledge of onboarding systems
  • Support new staff in orientation and training
  • Maintain substitute calendar; contact subs as needed
  • Assist director in hiring and training teachers and staff

5. Social Media

  • Oversees Facebook and Social Media accounts, posts picture, update, and utilize messaging service

Requirements

1. A member of a local Christian church

2. Experience working with children

3. Able to lift 45 pounds, and meet physical requirements of the ob

4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills

5. Maintain CPR first aid and AED
