Position Summary Supports the development, organization and implementation of a high quality YMCA/DCST swim team program. Essential FunctionsCoaches DCST swim team members in competitive swimming/strength developmenttechniques.Assist Senior, Head AgeGroup, 8 and Under and Strength coaches with practices and supervision of swim team members at meets.SupportsDCSTactivities to meet YMCA objectives, standards and guidelines.Supportscollaborative relationships with community organizations.Supportsmember connections through the DCSTprograms.Remains current in all YMCA swim team requirements, certifications and guidelines.Assists with DCST swim team practices and swim meets.Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.Assistsin DCST fund raising activities and special events.Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.Participates in staff meetings and/or related meetings.Qualifications: .One to two years competitive swimmingexperience preferredMinimum age requirements may apply; for example, minimum age of 16Completion of: Child Abuse Prevention for Supervisory Staff, Working with Program Volunteers, CPRfor the ProfessionalRescuer, First Aid, AED, Bloodborne Pathogens, YMCA Principles of Swimming and DivingCoachingLifeguarding or Safety Training for Swim Coaches, USA Swimming Background CheckWithin one year of employment must pass the USA Swimming Level 1 Coaching TestPhysical DemandsSufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions of position and to supervise program activities.Adequate ability to hear noises and distinguish distress signals without an electronic aid.Ability to continuously scan all areas of the pool with clear vision.Ability to communicate verbally, including projecting voice across distance in normal and loud situations.Ability to work in a chlorine environment.Ability to work in high humidity.Ability to work in temperatures over 80 degrees.Ability to work with noise level over 50 decibels.
Competitive swim coaching or competitive experience required.
