Based in the heart of Collingswood, New Jersey, Kitchen & Associates (K&A) is a dedicated and integrated collaborative team of over 65 architects, engineers, urban planners and interior designers working side-by-side, toward one common goal—building the future better for everyone. We are presently seeking an enthusiastic design professional with excellent technical, communication, and relationship-building skills for a Project Coordinator/Architect role focused on Asset Preservation. Asset Preservation is an aspect of our practice that focuses on the renovation, repair, and enhancement of existing buildings and sites to prolong their use and viability.
EXPERIENCE
- The ideal candidate will possess at least 6 years of relevant experience, preferably in an architecture firm, and will be responsible for assisting with building assessments and the design, documentation, and technical coordination and other related services for renovation, asset preservation, and some new construction architectural projects.
- Experience in performing Property Condition Assessments and writing technical reports is a plus.
- Licensure as, or in-process to become, a Registered Architect is preferred.
EDUCATION
- A candidate for this position should have a background in architecture, engineering, building forensics, or construction management.
- Bachelor's degree in architecture or similar courses of study preferred. Candidates that do not possess a degree, but have solid building code and construction knowledge gained through work experience will also be considered.
SKILLS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform specific project tasks according to deadlines and within budget, as assigned by a Project Manager.
- Conduct project research as applicable to scope of work (historical, regulatory, etc.).
- Data compilation and organization, contributing to written reports and assessments. Effectively communicate project progress and issues with the project team and management.
- Coordinate various efforts in support of projects from project initiation through project close-out.
- Understand concepts of building component life cycles, system condition evaluation, replacement costs.
- Familiar with the basic principles of architecture, MEP systems, structural systems, and site engineering, including design, construction, maintenance, accessibility, and building codes.
- Strong organizational skills, ability to work independently, and willingness to learn.
- Good technical computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Physical fitness to navigate stairs, sites, and building interiors.
- Willingness to travel to project and client locations when necessary.
